County Clerk
Responsibilities
The County Clerk’s office has many varied responsibilities, which include:
- Marriages
- Issues public and confidential marriage licenses
- Provide certified copies of confidential marriage licenses
- Marriage applications are available on our (but must be signed in person prior to ceremony) Online Services page.
- Fictitious Business Names (FBNs) - File Fictitious Business Name Statements forms as required by the California Business and Professions Code
- File statements of Abandonment of Use by Fictitious Business Name
- File withdrawal from partnership operating under a Fictitious Business Name
- Electronic Registration (eReg) System (For State filings)
- FBN filings and searches are available on our Online Services page.
- Notary Public Registrations
- Registers notary public oaths and commissions
- Accepts notary bonds for filing
- Maintains records of those filed
- Certifies the authenticity of a notary
Payment
Our office no longer accepts checks as payment except for the recording of official record documents. Credit and debit card payments can be accepted in our office. Credit and Debit Card transactions are subject to a $2.50 fee for transactions processed in-person. All transactions conducted via mail will be subjected to a $7.00 processing fee.
