Fight Club is a cult classic movie with an unforgettable cast. Its plot revolves around an unnamed narrator on the verge of a breakdown, suffering from insomnia, and going through a series of unfortunate events. After befriending a puzzling soap salesman, the two invest their time in a shocking new form of therapy between men, which quickly spirals out of control.

Directed by David Fincher, one of the most talented names in the thriller genre, the movie perfectly adapts the book of the same name by Chuck Palahniuk, although the two Fight Clubs have completely different endings. Much of its success is thanks to its star-studded cast portraying the many distinct characters in its story.

Edward Norton as The Narrator

Edward Norton staring blankly at the camera in Fight Club

Despite his unremarkable personality and insecure attitude, the Narrator is an interesting protagonist to follow because of the absurd things that happen around him. He begins Fight Club in a hopeless state, almost as if he was living on autopilot. Everything changes after he meets Marla Singer: the Narrator falls in love and gets rid of the support groups he used to frequent to remind himself he was alive. He also meets Tyler Durden and learns how to stand up for what he thinks is right, unaware that he's a pawn in Tyler's ambitious plan. The Narrator is the co-creator of Fight Club and is respected by the other members.

Edward Norton's '90s movie streak might be among the best an actor ever achieved and includes Primal Fear and American History X, two of Norton's best movies featuring brilliant performances that were certainly vital to his Fight Club casting. Norton was Oscar-nominated for his roles in Primal Fear and American History X, playing a young man accused of a grisly murder and the former leader of a neo-Nazi gang, respectively. Viewers will also be familiar with Edward Norton from The Incredible Hulk, Birdman, 25th Hour, The People vs. Larry Flynt, and the second Knives Out movie, Glass Onion, where he is one of the key suspects in a murder mystery.

Brad Pitt as Tyler Durden

Tyler Durden in the street in Fight Club

Tyler Durden encapsulates a whole generation of violence-seekers and toxic masculinity. The way he's portrayed as a role model, not only for the Narrator but for every man who stumbles upon him, only makes it harder to discern the charming and ambitious man he is from his catastrophic intentions, which is precisely why he's such a nuanced and misunderstood character. Tyler Durden is one of Fincher's best villains because he's constantly manipulating people into thinking he's a hero. What he's really trying to do is bring as many people as he can to an unstoppable path of self-destruction.

Tyler Durden is played by Brad Pitt, an actor who has starred in over 40 movies throughout his career. He's a veteran in Fincher's filmography, starring in Se7en and The Curious Case of Benjamin Button in addition to his part in Fight Club. Pitt has been nominated for five acting Oscars and won one for his role as Cliff Booth in Quentin Tarantino's Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. He's also a prominent movie producer and was awarded an Oscar when 12 Years a Slave won Best Picture. Pitt has worked with a range of renowned directors, including Terrence Malick, Alejandro González Iñárritu, and Damien Chazelle.

Helena Bonham Carter as Marla Singer

Marla Singer (Helena Bonham Carter) In Fight Club.

Marla Singer's sharp wit and nihilist state of mind offer some of the best quotes in Fight Club. Marla is the low-key catalyst for the drastic change in the Narrator's life, almost as if she's the embodiment of a bad omen who brings death along wherever she goes. Death is Marla's philosophy, as she states, only it never comes to her. Curiously, Marla is far from being an antagonist. She's a strong-willed, independent woman who finds herself the recipient of the obsession of Tyler and the Narrator, getting swept up in a series of catastrophic events and acting as the voice of reason in a scenario overwhelmed by blinded men.

Helena Bonham Carter is famously known for her role as Bellatrix Lestrange in the Harry Potter franchise, one of the cruelest and most dangerous villains written by J. K. Rowling. Despite her iconic role in Fight Club, fantasy seems to be her specialty. For a while, Carter was filmmaker Tim Burton's ultimate gothic muse, appearing in eight of his movies, including Dark Shadows, Big Fish, and Alice in Wonderland, where she delivers an iconic portrayal of the Red Queen. She received Oscar nominations for her roles in The Wings of a Dove and The King's Speech and co-starred on Netflix's The Crown as Princess Margaret.
