Emilia Clark has sparked dating rumors with director Charlie McDowell with an adorable post on Instagram. The Game of Thrones star shared a snap of his and her shadows in the sand, with him kissing her cheek. "Well that was a birthday I won’t be forgetting in a while. ❤️" she captioned the post, as she celebrated her 32nd birthday on Tuesday.
While many speculated who the man in the photo could be, McDowell confirmed his identity when he shared the same image on his page a few hours later. "Happy birthday, E. ❤️" he wrote.
The 35-year-old The One I Love director is the son of Mary Steenburgen and Malcom McDowell.
He also directed Netflix's sci-fi romance, The Discovery, which premiered in 2017. The film stars Rooney Rooney Mara, Jason Segal and Robert Redford. He was in a six-year relationship with Mara before their split in 2016.
Clarke, who plays Daenerys Targaryen "Mother of Dragons" on Game of Thrones, shared another piece of her birthday celebration —an appropriately themed dragon birthday cake.
"FULL DISCLOSURE: dragons are not for eating. Only for riding, and the occasional bbq," she joked. "But dear instaworld I wanted to say a huge thank you to all you glorious wonder creatures who wished me a happy birthday! I felt like one very lucky chica to have been sent so much love..."
Clarke recently solidified her character's major role in her life with a dainty tattoo on her right wrist. "MOD 4 LYFE!!!!🔥@_dr_woo_made sure this mamma ain’t NEVER forgetting her babies.... 😍" she wrote on Instagram, showing off her new ink.
