Martin B Just a very pleasant show. Good scenery, interesting characters and scripts that are written well enough to make each episode move right along. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 12/19/23 Full Review Karen B My husband and I watched this together and thoroughly enjoyed it!! Just loved it and am gutted to realize it is cancelled! I found the characters believable and funny..in a good way. Loved the columns George wrote as well. Missing it already. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/15/23 Full Review Stephen G At first, 800 Words seemed like a cross between the old U.S. TV series Northern Exposure and Dougie Howser, MD, in that it featured lots of quirky characters in an out-of-the way town and the lead character reflecting on life through his writings. But over the course of the season the show grew on us as the characters began to be fleshed out and some plots and themes unfolded. The upshot is a show that's gotten much better (including in Seasons 2 and 3) as it's gone on. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 05/09/21 Full Review Audience Member Refreshingly different but it owes success to the ability of the cast to hold it together. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/09/23 Full Review Audience Member Travel brochure with plastic characters, full of predictable cliches - an utterly boring waste of time. The daughter is a completey unlikable and uninteresting character who overwhelms most of the episodes. It feels like they are trying to create a plotline with no story.
