Koussevitzky Music Shed at Tanglewood

Tanglewood Enhanced Virtual Tour

In 1934, Tanglewood, one of the Berkshires cultural crown jewels began when a group of musicians from the New York Philharmonic gave a concert in a tent. In a 1937 all-Wagner concert, rain and thunder twice interrupted the performance. This led to the commissioning of the Koussevitzky Music Shed (named after found Serge Koussevitzky). It was inaugurated in 1938. Since then, the Shed has undergone continuous improvements, including a major acoustical refurbishment in 1959. In the virtual tour below, you can use the seating chart to test the view from each section of the venue.
