Restaurants, bars and souvenir shops were reasonably priced. The tram ride up and down the mountain were an experience that added to a good half day excursion.Visited June 2023Written June 25, 2023

Dont even need to purchase tickets if you have the octopus card, just tap and you are good to enter the tram ride. Nice scenery and restaurants around the peak areas. We had fun exploring the Mdm Trussade museum, not crowded which is good. The Peak is a must visit place i would say if is your firt trip to HKG! Once you battle your way through all the tacky souvenir shops, you travel up through a further maze of gift shops, restaurants, selfie studios, arcade games & more, until you finally reach the peak (the highest viewing platform in Hong Kong) and are rewarded with the most breathtaking views over the city. You can admire those skyscrapers and the beautiful sea. I recommend tourists to order a cup of coffee and sit on the open-air seats on the balcony provided by the coffee shop and enjoy the leisurely afternoon and amazing view there. But there are always many people taking the tram up to the peak. So I would also recommend you to buy an Octopus Card in Hong Kong, which is widely used for subways, buses, convenient stores, because there is a separate way for Octopus Card holders to enter, which is much faster than you buy a specific tram ticket.Visited March 2023Traveled soloWritten July 12, 2023

Well worth it because I don't think we would have been able to walk up the mountain in the heat. While at the top we had the best view of Hongkong and also decided to do the Peak Circle Walk that was 3,5km long. Saw more beautiful views and quite a few HUGE spiders. You can take double decker bus to the top and have to pay to see the view. Overall worth going up to the top to see the whole kong hong. Most of the shops however close at 630pm. This is the fabled lookout at the top of Victoria's Peak with an outstanding view of Hong Kong Harbor. On a clear day you can see forever. Most tourists take the tram to the top but as long as you don't get car sick, I highly recommend you take the #15 bus for a much more interesting and beautiful view of the mountains and living areas that back up the mountain behind downtown HK. Get off when the bus enters what appears to be the parking garage of a mall at the top of the mountain. Simply ride up the escalators and you will pop out at the entrance to the viewing area for the peak for which there is an additional charge. For an interesting souvenir there is a post office in the basement of the shops surrounding the stairs to the top of the peak. They sell postcards and stamps and will mail your card home stamped at the Peak.

My wife and I undertook an afternoon and evening Grayline HK tour of Hong Kong Island on 29 December 2019 which culminated in a Bauhinia Harbour Dinner Cruise incorporating the nightly Symphony of Lights experience.
The tour covered a number of key attractions of Hong Kong Island commencing with a ride on the famous Peak Tram (reviewed separately) to the top of Victoria Peak to witness the apparently magnificent panoramic vista of Victoria Harbour, the city, Lamma Island and the surrounding islands.
Victoria Peak is a hill with an elevation of 552 metres on the western half of Hong Kong Island. It is also known as Mount Austin, and locally as The Peak.
It was not a pleasant day when we visited, with it raining on and off. This was for us the only opportunity we would have to experience this world renowned view of all views, as our time in Hong Kong was very short. When the Tram arrived at the top of the Peak we could see absolutely nothing but a complete blank grey canvas – no harbour, no buildings and no WOW moments. It was a huge disappointment. The message is clear for travellers, as many reviewers have already advised – Don’t bother if the weather is cloudy or raining and wait another day if time is on your side. It was not on our side unfortunately, but as they say “Them’s the breaks”.
Our tour guide offered some small consolation to us by pointing to a huge poster which showcased the view we would have experienced had it been fine and sunny. We could see it would have been quite a sight.
My wife and I did have a picture taken of ourselves at the very top viewing area under a special archway constructed for the purpose which showed the complete blank grey canvas in the background. We felt we had to have evidence that we did make it to the top of the Peak.
Our guide left our tour group to its own devices for about an hour so we could visit the many shops and restaurants in the viewing area. Many of these shops were very touristy selling at best very tacky souvenirs and they totally lacked appeal. It was raining and our time here was miserable. One hour to wait was too long under these circumstances. We just wanted to leave the place as there was nothing to enjoy here. It would have been good if there were seats outside the shops to sit on – sadly there were none. I know I cut a sad picture for passers-by when sitting on the floor along with other tired tourists until a lady attendant eventually came along and said I could not continue to do so. She did offer to let me sit on a seat in one of the shops, however, by then it was almost time to leave. We left by tour bus instead of the down Tram journey. We were glad it was all over.
We were well aware that this attraction would be sensational for the view it offers on a sunny, cloud free day. However if it is raining it can be a lousy experience.

We visited the peak they are under construction so we walk far to reach peak tram entrance and not advisable if you have old people with you. My mother feel so tired because she need to walk far and high step to reach the tram going to peak and we have our luggage with us. Madam tussauds entrance also quite expensive😂. But it’s good experience to visit the peak when you travel to Hk.

Whatever else you do in HK, a visit up the peak is a must.
Built by the British originally to transport the wealthy traders, senior military officers and officials up to their mansions and residences, plus of course the Governor General has his residence at the very top.
The tram ride up is quite an achievement, it’s almost at 90 degrees in places, fantastically maintained and restored, it carries 120 souls at a time, but in busy periods, there will be queues.
Once at the top the views from the new sky station over HK, Victoria harbour and Kowloon are stunning, and gives a really clear impression of the HK area layout.
There’s now lots shopping in the new mail, plus a food hall and restaurants.
A great few hours up here, for a very reasonable cost.

Victoria Peak (Tai Ping Shan), also known locally as The Peak. It is the highest hill on Hong Kong Island with an elevation of 552m. With around 7 million visitors per year. It has views of the city and its waterfront which are amazing to see anytime of the day, It is busy so booking in Advance is recommended,

The panoramic views of Victoria Harbour don’t get any better than this! Hong Kongers, don’t miss the chance to visit this city’s national treasure stress-free and tourist-less! Take a leisurely walk around the lap and don’t forget to stop to smell the flowers - the faurna and flora of Hong Kong. The Peak team is always fun but a bus ride (no 15 from Central) is equally exciting for a fraction of the cost. Be sure to take tons of photos without having to battle crowds at the Peak Pagoda.

Getting there
Depending on where you are coming from all available modes of transportation in Hong Kong can be utilized to come here. But I prefer bus. You will enjoy the scenery going up to the location since the bus is higher than the road fences. You will get a good view.

Go there during the afternoon and go to madame tussauds if you are very early for the night lights. After that, stay on the deck until nightfall so you can enjoy the lights on the city view

We took the tram up here and then accessed the Sky Terrace.The views are just spectacular! We went up relatively early in the day and it wasn't very busy, however when we left later in the afternoon there were lots of people coming up, so i recommend visiting in the morning/early afternoon. There are lots of shops and restaurants too, so it is easy to spend time here.

If there is one touristy activity you should do in Hong Kong, it is this one. The views are magnificent, especially during sunset. Once at the top, there are plenty of hiking opportunities and you can find monkeys as well. There are also restaurants and shopping available.
I wold not recommend splurging for access to the top floor of the shopping complex. The view is just as amazing from the ground, the windows and the hiking paths.

I have been to HKG twice and visited Victoria Peak both times. First we went to the viewing platform, you have to pay for this and very busy. The second time, on recommendations from a friend who lives in HKG we went for the circular walk just outside from the restaurant area. Much less busy, all flat surface, amazing walk with 360 views. Highly recommend at sunset but wear mozzy spray!

I see in the reviews that everyone is suggesting to get "fast track" tickets,
Is "Fast Track" meaning getting ticket in advance or is there a separate Q as 'regular ticket Q' and 'fast track' ticket Q?
And I don't see any "fast track" mentioned in any of the ticket options in ticketing.thepeak official website, can any one please help!

Will it be a Wise idea to reach Peak at 5pm and go top?
Are there any busses that take you directly to the central pier for your way down ?
Will we be able to reach the central pier by 7.30pm to enjoy the symphony light show ?

Not really but you can choose a combination ticket that includes both the tram ride and the Sky Terrace observation deck. The adult combo ticket is $99 incl return trip on tram (the tram on its own is $52 for a return trip).
The Sky Terrace certainly gives you a panoramic 360 degree view over Hong Kong. However there are several other spots where you can also get very good views over Hong Kong for free. They are comparable views (if not 360 degrees). The free spots are at the Galleria observation deck, Lions Pavilion, from the Peak Circle Walk and Lugard Rd (see reviews on each of these).
If you want to explore the Peak a little, the Peak Circle Walk is an easy, flat, looped trail. I often take visitors on this walk.
The other thing to remember is that you don’t have to do the tram both ways. Taking a bus or taxi one-way is quite a good option esp if there are queues at the tram. In any case you get a totally different view over Hong Kong as the bus or taxi winds it’s way up/down the mountain.

Hi, it should be closed that time and there is very limited transportation from the peak. Yes, HK is very safe everywhere for anytime of the day.
However, if the view of the skyscraper is what you are keen on then there are many roof top bars where you can enjoy the stunning views of Hong Kong. My personal favourites are Sevva, CeLaVi, Piqniq (all of these three are in the same area, so you can choose any ) and Ozone (the rooftop bar with the best view of the city, its in Ritz Carlton and its expensive ). All give a great view of the city.

I went by taxi from hotel, on the way back by walking. I have checked it in google maps how far it is and how I can get to there. There is subway as well. Just check from you location what it is the best, because subway was not ok for me. I had to get 2 different subways and walk after that to the Peak

Is it okay to visit The Peak and ride the Peak Tram, at 7:00am in the morning?

It should be ok but it might be foggy depending on the season and you won't get to enjoy the view.. Purchase your tickets before going so you can beat the queue.

I m staying in wan chai. To go Victoria peak if I take bus 15 it will drop at the peak stop and from there do I need to walk for 1.3km to reach Victoria Peak or I can get any option from the peak stop to Victoria Peak

Was there a few days ago, and they said they didn’t know. Organise a bus at the moment just to be safe.
