IMDb User Reviews:
Ahh, childhood memories... (June 20, 2004 by lancer525): I remember this film as one of the first I saw that showed kids doing something creative, while slightly misbehaving, and using their intelligence. I'd love to see it again, to compare how it measures up to the memory. The old "Wonderful World of Disney" made-for-TV movies of the week were simple, sappy (by today's jaded standards) fare that were honest family entertainment. Today, (to quote another theatrical character) entertainment is demented madmen running around in ski-masks hacking up young virgins. Gone (unfortunately) are the days where escapist entertainment without political or religious overtones can be seen, and enjoyed for the storytelling quality alone.
Standard kids fare from Disney (Dec. 01, 2000 by Marta): This is pretty standard stuff from Disney that was made for TV, back in the days when they had forgotten how to make anything of quality. Walt had been dead for 5 years, and a malaise had taken over at the studio. It didn't last all that long, but this film is unfortunately from that period. It's not all that bad; the 3 kids are good, but the story is boring and it goes at a snail's pace. Burgess is good, as always, as the old codger who might or might not be mean. It's worth a look, if you can find it to watch, but not much more. Kids today will be bored silly by it, I think.
Kids adventures cause havoc in a quaint community (July 16, 2002 stephenray): This can work as a good baby sitter for smaller kids. The performances of veterans Agnes Moorehead and Burgess Meredith save the movie. The kids are fine, the action is acceptable, safe fair (think Disney in the 70's)and there are lots of familiar old-time Hollywood favorites character actors helping it along. Not available on video but may show up on tv (worth taping for kids)

Subject: A PLOT FOR A LATER DATE!
Subject: A PLOT FOR A LATER DATE!
This same plot would later be reprised on the long running series "Little House On The Prairie", when Mrs. Olson steals a house by the pond that belongs to Kezia. So, Laura, Albert, Kezia invent a lake monster story to frighten Mrs. Olson off the property. With the building of their fire breathing lake monster, the late night romp begins. Mr. Olson arrives just in time to watch the showdown. Laughing so hard, he ends up in the pond. The hilarity ensues, and Kezia gets her house back.
It is truly one of the funniest episodes of "Little House". But, it's good to see where they story got it's roots from!

You know it's all going to turn out, it's that kind of movie (:
Love the friendly relationship between teacher and children. One of those teachers who sincerely want the students to learn and enjoy it! The trust is wonderful.
That the children care so much is lovely.
I must say I do NOT like who the 'bad guy' ends up being. That is a huge fault of the movie, I think, but can't have everything when you don't write it yourself ;)
I decide to pretend it's someone different, for my part of the pretend !

I remember these old Disney films. Long gone is the innocence of those long lost days. Now the most profane, vile, and depraved movies are being shown as a matter of course. We have devolved into a society of violent, sick minded degenerates. RIP America.
