This is surely *not* free jazz, nor 'jazz' in the sense as to how that term is understood or defined. A label for this recording has yet to be invented. A collection of wild, madcap works of a Zappa-esque nature performed by the duo on the Synclavier (along with the odd burst of Kaiser guitar shredding), this is experimentalism writ large on the premier synth of its time, which, along with the Fairlight, made many a modern artist tremble with its possibilities. Kaiser & Kuriokhin are clearly having a blast at reconceptualizing their own unique notions of what constitutes 'music' as interpreted by their imaginations & fired up by the Synclavier, but whether these creations will prove memorable is certainly something of a mystery, let alone an acquired taste. Straddling thin veins of classical/post-classical, post-modernism, fractalism, electronica, 'new music, and all other types of wanton hybrids, the pair swing from otherworldly to comical with deftness and ease, keen to throw whatever they like against the wall to see what sticks. A curio in the pair's mutual discographies, though Kaiser's pendulum has swung across such myriad experiments frequently throughout his extensive catalog. Not a classic by any means, but a good bit of fun when you're in the mood for well-executed sonic jocularity.
