I felt as though my actual education was good, but the culture of the school overall was not great. Administration never really did anything helpful to solve any problems and overall it kind of felt like the district was more concerned with money than our actual safety sometimes. We have had all of the bathroom locked at a time to prevent vandalism, which in reality made the problem worse. Overall I know our administration and our district really does care about us, but I sometimes feel like they don't really know how to manage the school or solve any of the problems in it. Overall though my experience was great. I learned a lot, had fun, and made a lot of friends.
Through my semesters at Lawrence High school, I’ve had many ups and downs. From struggle with academics and sports to struggle with drama or friends. But after all that’s happened I wouldn’t change a thing. At every high school, you’re going to get that high school experience of drama and problems with particular people. When it comes to Lawrence High, you don’t get the bad end of it. You get to express yourself freely as we have a no bullying policy that is heavily enforced. We have all kinds of clubs and organizations so that there is a place for everybody. Lawrence High school gives you an immense amount of opportunity to find a place somewhere in our community. I’ve had a great experience and I can’t wait for Track and Field season to start. Throwing the javelin in competition again will be thrilling!
Lawrence Highschool is overall a very accepting and diverse high school. The students and teachers are kind and work hard for inclusivity amongst students. I enjoy the lack of cliques within my high school and how much of a melting pot it is. The people are honestly great here, however, I wish that our schools curriculum was better, because the way our system is set up most students aren't learning anything. Students only learn to memorize whats needed temporarily and then move on. Im in school to learn and to expand my knowledge, yet I felt that our system failed in that aspect.
