I'm getting a LOT of this lately.

Out of nothing I realize my Z10 (STL100-1) does not detect my SIM card. I could be driving, working, walking the dog, etc. ... then I want to make a call or just check for emails when this irking little red SIM sign at the top right of my screen and the title note saying "SIM card not detected"...

People complain they've been calling me or emailing me or sending me sms with no answer on my part.

Worst is I have to reset the damn phone over and over and over again (several times a day) to get back to "normal"....just for a short time.

Today, not even a 3-in-a-row hard reset fixed the problem, so I had to take out the battery ...and the SIM, place them back again... it worked for a short time and then, yes, same thing went on.

I have taken the phone to the carrier store where they tell me the reason why this is happening is because I upgraded the OS (to version10.1.0.273). Matter-of-factly, I did that a couple of months ago FROM THAT carrier: Movistar (Spanish company operating in Spain and Latin America).

They say, "yes, we've released that OS upgrade, but you (that's me) shouldn't have loaded it to your phone, because it MAY be causing all sorts of problems to your device."

    Go figure...

Of course I don't buy that bull, but have really no where else to go... that is, before I drive my car through the carriers store window...

Notice: I'm not using leaked OS because it's a drag to load leaks and then have all or sorts of bugs go about my phone. I like official, easy to install, and stable OS.

I've this question then: has anyone here had the same problem with the SIM card on their Z10 (STL100-1)? And if yes what could be the cause for that, and how can one fix it for good?

Many thanks for getting through here and for any advice on this particular issue.

Actually I think I saw that issue at some point, but I cannot remember the fw version.
Right now I am on 10.2.0.1761 and has no SIM card issues.

I do however experience 1-3 reboots a day - only one bank app sideloaded, but not even started.
I know .1767 should be the version to go live, so I should really try this before complaining :->)

This might not be an expected solution but try wiggling the sim card and cleaning it if you haven't already done so.

Shut down phone, pull sim, replace. If that doesn't help, get a new sim card.

Having similar issue here or even worse ,since my bb z10 not only stopped reading SIM card but it wont play any audio back at all not from speaker nor receiver . it all happened at the same time , I was trying to play up a song when it happened ,then i reset it . took a few times to get completely back on gain , and when it did it turned out it didn't recognize the SIM nor have no audio at all . i connected it to my computer ,did the restore using the back up data , but didn't work , continued with the security wipe out and nothing , then i did the restore using the backup again boo ya I was happy , but only lasted a couple of days and now is all messed up again . i also noticed the back of my Z10 gets kinda hot when this happens ,,
I need Help so badly .. saw on other postings that its necessary having the SIM card reader replaced on the device but dont know where to get this part . Im in Mexico and its not easy getting your hands on stuff like that .
