On March 13, 2024 Carlton Hancock, 52, pled guilty to murdering Brian Carriker, 56, in Charlotte, NC. 

Brian was murdered in the early morning hours of November 18, 2018, while he was a guest in the home of a friend. 

Carlton was also in the home that morning, and attacked Brian with a hammer, his fists, and ultimately stabbed Brian multiple times in the neck.

Carlton then fled in Brian’s truck. Later that evening, members of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Violent Crimes Apprehension Team apprehended Carlton in High Point, North Carolina. 

Brian’s truck was parked near the location where Carlton was hiding when he was found.

At trial Carlton pled guilty to first degree murder and robbery with a dangerous weapon. 

The suspect was sentenced to 310 - 384 months in prison for the murder charge. That sentence will be followed by a sentence of 67–93 months for the robbery with a dangerous weapon charge.
