It is like walking into another world when you are at The Gardens Hotel. The fountain in the courtyard surrounded by palm trees is like an oasis. The path through the garden transports you to another world as it has lots of sculptures, birds, and quiet nooks as well as tortoises in an enclosed area. Yet just outside the walls is Old Town Key West. The nightly music and wine bar are wonderful additions to your vacation.

Breakfast is very nice, especially sitting outside with filtered light through the palm trees.

My husband and I spent our 3rd anniversary there last week. It was our first time in Key West and I chose the right location to stay. We were greeted by Nancy with glasses of cool prosecco during check-in, which was very simple. We chose to use the onsite parking since it was available and inexpensive. We actually didn't move the car the entire stay.

We were given a key to our cottage 1 and a key to the entry gate. Walking through the gate, we passed a splashing water feature alongside the pool, private to the cottage guests.

Our Cottage 1 was straight ahead with a charming, large porch just for us. How exciting to walk in and explore the cool interior, tastefully decorated with ocean features and colors. Due to the current times, the breakfast bar was not open but they gave us a large bowl with all sorts of treats. They also gave us a card and complimentary bottle of champagne chilling in the fridge for our anniversary! so sweet of them.

Off the living room, is the large bedroom with a king bed and French doors that lead to the shared porch behind. This is shared with two other cottages. The bed was comfortable and we had 6 large pillows to use.

The bathroom is open to the bedroom with a private toilet, a closet for clothes, ironing board, etc and another closet which housed the small refrigerator and Keurig. Coffee, tea, hot chocolate and bottles of water are supplied as you need them.

We enjoyed a drink at the pool bar tended by Jay and enjoyed walking through the shady, magical gardens full of interesting artwork and even two tortoises.

The self-serve wine bar is convenient and we enjoyed a fine glass of Merlot with the acoustic guitar player on Friday evening.

In between enjoying Key West, we cooled off in our semi-private pool which was right in front of the cottage. It was perfectly relaxing.

Thank you so much, we will definitely return!!

Our stay at the beautiful and historic The Gardens Hotel in Key West was like spending a week end in Paradise! The gracious staff and owner gave us personal attention and welcome. From the minute we opened our garden room door to the antique carved Key West style bed to the pristine marble bathroom we were not disappointed. We enjoyed sampling the varied wine bar offerings while sitting on our own porch at the end of each day. Located one block from the hub-bub of Duval with easy walking to all attractions, our return to the quiet, peaceful luxury of The Garden Hotel was heavenly. Walking through the garden complete with art, birds, turtles and hanging orchids helped us relax even more. Beginning with a beautiful buffet breakfast to ending with piano music and jazz, we rate our experience BEYOND excellent and well worth our our expense.

I was not originally going to stay here until a local relative gave strong recommendation. I never regretted following that advice. The enclosure of this hotel envelops you in tropical greenery with meandering brick paths leading to 2 pools, gazebos, perching places, a cute bar (and charming bartender). The rooms are in several Key West edifices kept immaculately in old style with modern updates and period furniture. Despite pandemic , the staff was seamless with providing door service if you needed refills of the breakfast basket cold items or new towels and bedsheets. The front desk and automated wine bar with access card are amazing accoutrements and the safety of a locked night gate just add to the nurture of the place. A few short steps from Duval St., I would opt to stay here time and again. It’s the real deal

The first thing to be aware is this is not really a hotel. It is a bed and breakfast location. There is no service after breakfast until the bar opens in the evening. Breakfast is a bit scrappy. There is no food service at all after breakfast. The rooms are big and have a historic feel. The beds are comfortable. The bedroom and particularly the bathroom had a somewhat tired feeling for a hotel that charges 'top dollar'. The 'garden' setting is relaxing and you do feel like you are in 'Old Key West'. The location is excellent as it has on site parking and is a two minute walk to Duval Street.

Harveypup may have missed the entire experience of Funky Key West. I viewed other reviews from this guest and it is quite consistent with ours. We are indeed licensed as a Hotel however, we feel to experience Key West we offer the very best complimentary breakfast in Key West! We always offer a fresh made warm egg dish along with gluten free hot sausages, a wonderful selection of boars head meats and cheeses, Chobani yogurt with our private blend, almond granola, again our private blend, fresh cut seasonal fruits, hard boiled eggs, fresh pastries, danish, breads and bagels delivered each day from the finest french restaurant and bagel shop, various cookies, Biscoff and four different cold beverages, our red diamond coffees that are fresh ground for each brew, Nespresso expresso and a large selection of teas. Our beverages are out each morning at 7:30 am and the hot breakfast is available from 8:30 - 10:30 am. All of our rooms have K cup coffee makers with a large selection of coffees, teas and coco. We also have Mini moo creamers in the fridges not powdered paste. Our pool bar is open from 2 - 8 pm and our wine bar is open to guests of the hotel from 8:30 am - 9 :30 pm; offering 36 different wines from around the globe. We also offer to pairing plates, a manchego cheese plate and a humus plate which is available from 8:30 am - 9:30 pm. This is not a scrappy breakfast and it is complimentary. Our in room amenities include robes, our custom blended shower amenities such as shampoo, conditioner, body wash, shower gel, hand soap and body lotion. We also have eco essentials in the mini jars along with our eco essentials body bar pleat wrapped soaps. Loofah, Hair covers, make up removers, cotton swabs and pads, Rainshower heads and plush towels enough for four people. Our rooms have fanimation ceiling fans inside and outside, central a/c, custom linens and bamboo sheets along with a minimum of 6 pillows. Large writing desks, sitting chairs, free wifi free comcast entertainment on smart monitors, to mention just a few. Our acre of historic tropical gardens are directly in the center of the Historic District of Key West. Once the Peggy Mills Estate now an award winning luxury boutique hotel named The Prettiest Hotel in Key West by the New York Times. We also offer live piano 6 days a week and live jazz on Sunday's, Wine classes' once a month and host many events for the community that we are part of. My response is quite lengthy as it needed to be addresses as to why the Gardens Hotel stands out and has the many accolades that we strive for with excellence in delivering a great experience that is personal and well deserved.

There is so much to say about this amazing oasis and its staff! My wife and I were Key West virgins and the fortuitous selection of this hotel made our trip. Upon arriving we were met by George. George was dealing with multiple check-ins. Despite the situation in which George found himself, he took the time to greet us, he told us to make ourselves at home, and supplied us with a generous helping of champagne! We settled on the front porch of the main house and sipped our complimentary champagne. After a few minutes settling into our new environment, it was our turn with George. He went above and beyond during our check in. Knowing we are new to Key West, he took the time to go over the map, gave recommendations, and supplied us with discounts to various local attractions. After checking in we settled into our lovely room, the Carriage house! From its tastefully appointed furnishings, to its spacious feel, to the fabulous private terrace, this room was everything we had hoped it would be and more! The view from the terrace was inviting and beautiful and we would come to spend every evening sipping wine and every morning sipping coffee from its perch. The staff of the Gardens was first-rate! (A special shout out to Brian the very personable and friendly pool bartender!) Every member of the staff, weather in passing or face to face, always greeted you with a smile and a "How are you today!" Not a single request we had made was denied. The property itself was sizeable and luxurious. It was a very welcome respite from the sometimes loud and chaotic Duvall street. It almost felt like you were in another far-off land. When returning to the property from our tourist travels, we would make it a point to stroll down one of the welcoming garden paths which held little mysteries around every corner in the form of sculptures, fountains, and wildlife. The smell, from the flora and fauna, was intoxicating! A few deep breaths and you were lulled into a carefree state. A quick change into your swimsuit and you found yourself lounging by the pool with a glass of wine and not a care in the world. A quick dip revealed the pool to be heated to a gratifying ninety degrees. Any remaining stress you may have had dissolved away as your muscles accepted the pools warm embrace. The absence of children on the property is also a bonus. My wife and I have and love children. But if you have kids you know, at times, they can be a noisy presence. This being an adult only hotel provided a perfect setting to relax and meet other adult guests without distraction. I could literally go on and on about this place, but I must bring my pontificating to an end. Thank you to all the staff at the Gardens! You have given a cold weary northerner a much need pause. But don't fear... I shall return next year to triumphantly sit on my carriage house perch and casually sip my worries away one glass a wine at a time!!

My husband and I, love The Gardens Hotel. We felt like we were in our very own Garden of Eden in Key West, FL. Beautiful rooms with wood flooring, extremely clean, luxurious bedding, spa bath tubs, in a tranquil garden setting with pool, outside bar, wine bar, Sunday Jazz, and Bobby Green singing and playing the piano is the most wonderful entertainment. Jim, David, Alisa, Peggy and Nancy are the most accommodating staff and team. They go out of their way to make sure you are comfortable, happy and well taken care of. Kate, the owner visits frequently and is very nice, she has such an amazing hotel to be proud of. This was our second visit and we will return again and again.

Making the best of the Covid crisis, this very fine hotel works hard to make your visit pleasant while keeping everyone safe. The grounds are beautiful, the location is central, and the staff were incredibly helpful. A beautiful location to get away from the hubbub of Duval Street while staying right in the middle of it. A special shout out to the cabana facility, which enabled us to take a trip to Dry Tortugas, come back late in the day, change and shower, and still make the ferry. A great place.

From the very moment we stepped on site we loved this property. The check in was swift and pleasant and the staff could not have been nicer. Jacob the gardener was so wonderful to keep the property kept up and was always friendly. The bartender Mark gave us great recommendations on what to do including eating at Lola's around the corner which was an amazing experience

The rooms are beautiful and the decor very authentic to Florida or like being in the islands - very well maintained - they did a great job of housekeeping even during Covid.

Loved the gardens and patio areas, and the pool was very relaxing.
The location is perfect for exploring the city, we walked everywhere

We will be back.

My wife and I stayed at The Gardens for 5 nights in May of 2021. This was an interesting time as the pandemic conditions were steadily improving across the country and both of us were already vaccinated. Even so, the hotel staff still made every effort to ensure the safety of their guests.

We chose The Gardens based upon the stellar reviews on Trip Advisor. They were spot on. This place is like no other in Key West. Centrally located to everything Old Town has to offer, but just far enough off the beaten path to escape the noise and crowds of Duval St. The hotel grounds are beautifully maintained and spacious enough where you don’t ever feel crowded. At times we felt like we were on our own private island resort. The pool bartender, Peggy, was also a lovely person who provided great service and conversation.

Our room (#2) was on the second floor of the main building and we loved the adjoining front porch. The room and amenities were just right for us. Housekeeping services were modified due to the pandemic, but the system they had in place worked just fine. The front office staff were very helpful and accommodating. They assisted us with bicycle rentals and gave us a lot of tips and pointers on the island.

It was definitely one of the more relaxing vacations we’ve had in a long time. We will definitely be back.
