He's basically an egotistical asshole villain that Cody happens to look like with the blonde hair and rah rah America gear. He's one of the best written villains recently and the show is pretty fun so you should def check it out if you ever have time 😊
Superman, but grown in a lab. Because he didn't have proper parenting, and was never seen as anything but a product, he has no humanity, and cares about nothing but his own ego. However, he's used the media to make the public think he's this great hero, until he eventually snaps.
In the case of Cody, it'd be him as the anti-John Cena. A perfect face wrestler, but secretly an entitled prick. Eventually, he cracks, and the real Cody starts to come to the surface. Unwilling to accept that he's the bad guy, he continues to act like he's the hero, while also being a vicious and bloodthirsty heel.
Reminder, pre-AEW, Cody's character on the indies was that "Dusty Rhodes son grew up to be Ric Flair", and spent most of his WWE run as a heel too. Like, he was such a heel that when Bullet Club became tweeners, he tried to oust Kenny Omega, and caused a civil war. Just like the story of "Hulk Hogan was always an asshole, but he finally stopped pretending when he joined the NWO" worked, "Cody was just an egomaniac pretending to be the nice guy" is a very easy story to tell.
They do the nicest wrestlers make the best heels. Daniel Bryan is another that springs to mind.
It's basically one of those dime a dozen "What if Superman was actually evil?", but actually done well.

It doesn't need to be a TV thing but a live event/dark match where Truth references this but calls him Stardust instead. "I heard Stardust wants to kick me in my face. So I'm challenging Stardust to a match right now!" Then Cody returns as Stardust for one night to beat R-Truth.

I can’t help but love the fact that our World Champion is obsessing over a grudge he’s got with a lower mid-carder who has a ton of talent. It shows that if done right, he could easily elevate R-Truth into the main event scene with a good program. I’m sure it’s not what’s going on, but man, I would love to see Cody vs R-Truth at a PLE for the title. So much potential for a good fun time.
