How long are the trailers/ads before movies?

Question

Hey guys. I’m about to go to the theater for the first time since covid. Before covid, if a movie was supposed to start at 3:00 pm, AMC theaters would have 20+ minutes of trailers and the movie would usually start around 3:20-3:25 pm. Is this still the case? I’m trying to budget my time to see if I can make it to a 3 o’clock screening, so it would help to know how long the trailers have been lately.

UPDATE for those who might search this question: I went to watch a blockbuster today and the movie started 30 minutes after the scheduled start time. I love watching the trailers so it didn’t bother me, but plan accordingly if it would bother you.

Alright. Thanks for the help, guys. I’ll budget my time accordingly. Have a great 4th. 🥳

Yes. That is still typical unless it’s a Fathom or other event or maybe some indie, kids, or other limited demographic show.

18-23 minutes

It’s 30 now

I have noticed that Dolby screens have nearly 30 mins of promos and trailers these days whereas regular and 3D screens have 25 mins. IMAX still seems to be just 20 mins though and I have missed first few minutes of some movies because of IMAX promos being shorter.
