Skype: These are the most important functions
When making calls with the messenger "Skype" you will see many parallels to your cell phone or smartphone. We present the most important functions:
- Contacts: Search for friends and relatives via the "Contacts" > "Add Contacts" tab. You can find your acquaintances by email address or Skype name.
- Chat: You can chat with your contacts as soon as one of them is online. In the settings you can also specify whether anyone can write to you or only your contacts.
- Skype-to-Skype calling: Select a contact from your contact list and click "Call" or "Video call". As long as you only call and chat with other Skype participants, there are no costs. You just need a stable internet connection.
- Skype-to-telephone: If you want to call a cell phone or landline, you can also do this with Skype. However, you will incur costs. In another article we will explain the payment options to you.
- Own Skype number: In addition to your user account for Skype calls, you can also purchase a "real" phone number. You can then also be called from fixed or mobile connections. When setting up your new Skype telephone number we will help you in another practical tip.
- Forwarding: With a Skype number, functions such as call forwarding are also available.
- Video conference: You can have a group video conference with up to 25 participants at the same time with Skype. We have compiled the details for you in another practical chip tip.
