The Lodge at Vail was a good choice for our 4 day visit. And it was an even better choice to have a luxury king room with a balcony, which happened to face the pretty, flowered courtyard for the 2 hotel restaurants. It was right near the back door, which allowed us to come and go easily, right into the pedestrian and shopping main streets of Vail Village. Our room: very much enjoyed the larger size of the room and bathroom; bed & pillows comfortable enough (a bit of sag to the middle, we prefer firm); loved having two sinks, nice bathroom toiletries, and robes for the longer walk to the pool; the Keurig with coffee supplies was an absolute plus, and the mini fridge was perfect for storing my favorite coffee creamer and other beverages. In one hallway, The water machine with flavored water choices was pretty cool, and we used it quite a bit to fill our Yeti’s (bring your own cups). Pool area: nice temps for pool and hot tubs, comfy loungers, need better upkeep of debris in hot tub (esp hair balls). Cucina restaurant: breakfast buffet was very good, nice selections, tasty vanilla latte; at first we thought it was pricey $22/pp, but after having breakfast elsewhere, it was actually a good value as long as you’re hungry. Housekeeping: for our length stay, we got one cleaning; however, after the 2nd night, I called the front desk around 12:30pm to confirm they would be coming, then at 5:00pm I had to call again to confirm, and they did finally come while we were out for dinner. Front desk staff were all very nice, as well as valet and bellhop. I asked the concierge at what time was mass for the Catholic holy day on Tuesday…he told me 8:00am, which I got up early and walked over there, but he was incorrect and Mass wasn’t until 5:30pm…ugh. Overall, it was an enjoyable stay.

Good points first. Location, concierge, Elways restaurant (excellent but very pricey), Spa, transport shuttles and personel.
Bad points. Tired and broken decoration. Bed side table had 3 of 4 legs, light fixtures hanging, front door dented and warped, cabinet doors in kitchen not able to close. Front desk had confirmed prior to our stay early check in and a cot in the room for our 1 year old but delivered neither. They offerred use of a regular room for 2 hours so the baby could sleep but forgot to bring the cot to the room. Good try but 2 out of 10. Cucina main restaurant awful and soulless. Cookies at 3 pm never existed. Only tea or hot chocolate while housekeeping vacummed around us. Hall carpets and general feel in desperate need of renovation. The hotel is resting on its laurels of a better period. Worst point is surly front desk who I think must have become numb to legitimate complaints while having thier hands tied by whomever is the owner.

My husband and I stayed in an Economy Studio for 5 nights during ski season. The economy studio was perfect for us. It's one bigger living room with a pull down Murphy bed, a full kitchen, and full size bathroom. Perfect for two people who are in Vail to ski and snowboard. The wood burning fireplace was lovely and it was nice that wood was provided outside the door. The pool was warm, the hot tub was super relaxing.

The Lodge at Vail is well located by the slopes - steps away from Gondola One that takes you up to Mid Vail. Also, great location in the village - you can walk to shops, restaurants, and bars. We walked over to the Lionshead area and I'm glad we stayed in the village as there seems to be more restaurants and bars in the village.

We really had a great time - thanks The Lodge!

The best part was the view.... which Rock Resorts has nothing to do with. The service became downright laughable. Every time we asked for shuttle the answer was " we are so sorry but not now". Found children's toys under the bed apparently from previous guest. $50 per night for parking, cold coffee at breakfast which we politely mentioned and were told " it was probably in the pot from last night and was supposed to be fresh... so sorry. " Glasses and water pitcher looked like it had not been cleaned in weeks or the dishwasher was broken perhaps. . Could not even drink out of the filthy glasses. Our stay was for a week and we asked about room cleaning after a few days and were told "no promises but check the night before we would like cleaning" Plastic toilet paper roll goes flying every time you touch the roll. Had to go buy coffee pods for "in room coffee service" . Asked for a glass to use for cocktails in the room and were of course told" I am sorry but we do not have glasses because there is no room service now. . TV was not working and were told "it is property wide and should be fixed by morning. " Asked for a couple fresh towels and new paper cups before we left in the morning.... nope. but the third time we asked we got some. The bathroom is nice but this is no luxury property. Staff has been trained to say "no" or " I am so sorry" with a smile.

Stayed at the lodge with a friend in a "premier two bedroom residence" (405) for five nights at a cost of $5,9951.19 (including four day ski passes for two) from March 1st to 6th or about $1,200 a night. The lodge has the best location in Vail Village. The premier two bedroom residence had a very nice kitchen, dining and living area. The view was somewhat disappointing: not looking onto Vail mountain until you were right against the window and looked to the right. The more disappointing feature was that one of the two bedrooms is an "inside" room. The window looks... into the living room. The bathroom is not ensuite. That room was very stuffy with the door closed. Both bathrooms had tiny toilets adjoining small tub/shower combinations. I had stayed several times in the Lodge's luxury rooms which have much nicer bathrooms (that is the room I will choose again).

Concierge told us that on the mountain reservations could only be made at 7 AM the same day, which turned out to be wrong.

I have never written a bad review but had to let folks know the latest with the Lodge at Vail. Valet (tipped at arrival and departure) was just incompetent, breakfast restaurant was 30-40 minutes late with my to-go order (daughter had a ski school appointment) , front desk staff really rude with basic questions like pool/hot tub, location, dinner options etc.
The only savior was that I took my kids to the pool/hot tub and everyone was so friendly and nice!
This place needs an overall manager or retrain the staff. Lots of issues like this show that there is not someone on staff that leads or really cares. Most of the employees don’t really care about the guests. I even left by giving them the benefit of the doubt and tipped the bell guy $20 and he left my luggage outside my car and was helping someone else! So crazy....I almost asked for my tip back.

Good Afternoon, I would like to thank you for choosing The Lodge At Vail, A Rock Resort as your hotel destination. After reading this review it is obvious that you didn't have the best experience. I wanted to reach out, personally, to apologize for the inconveniences that you encountered while staying with us. We certainly take all guest comments very seriously and use your feedback to help improve our hotel product and service. I am disappointed we missed the mark regarding your overall experience. Please be assured that I have contacted each department listed as this isn't a normal guest experience for us. I've had some difficult conversations regarding this lapse in service, I spoke with the bell stand about follow through and customer service, with the front desk on ensuring we are making our guests feel welcomed . The restaurant, both guest facing and the kitchen was made aware that there should never be food that is 30-40 minutes late. We strive to make every stay memorable and you should certainly expect well-appointed, pleasing accommodations. I greatly appreciate the feedback about your recent stay. Once again, I apologize we fell short of your expectations and I hope that you will consider returning in the future. If you choose to stay with us once more, please reach out to me directly and we will do everything to make your stay the experience you deserve. Kate Grattan General Manager KGrattan@vailresorts.com

We booked a “one bedroom residence” which looked lovely and modern in the photos and had a Murphy bed. We were instead given a basement “Riva” condo with a pull out sofa. That, in and of itself, was a problem, but the condition of the unit were such that I was shocked. Dirty, dumpy, old …and did I mention basement? It was a privately owned unit across the parking lot that I could have rented on another platform for far less. (And never would have chosen in a million years.) The hotel was able to give me 2 nights in a basic room in the lodge, but were otherwise full. The desk said they’d call that night regarding the rate we’d be paying (“we will make it very reasonable.” and update us if we could stay longer…but no one ever was in touch. So we spent the first evening hunting for a place to stay for the remainder of the week. They did say they’d refund the cost of the other unit, which was at least something, as we had to pay a ton for the next hotel as it was last minute and there was almost nothing available.
Then at check out they tried to charge us a pretty hefty sum-only refunding about 1/3 of the original cost. I do think the girl was just confused, and the manager did step in and fixed it right up- so kudos to him. But the whole thing was not great. The hotel location is wonderful, and the second room very nice (if not as big as we needed or with a kitchenette to use the groceries we’d bought in Eagle), so I don’t think k well risk it again. Too much stress for vacation!
(Note: since we booked the website seems to have clarified the Riva units as separate and not associating them with pics of lodge residences, so that’s an improvement that may help others know what they are booking and avoid our fate)

Note 2: the manager said he’d fixed the bill and emailed us the info showing the full credit. What he didn’t email or tell at any point us was the fee for the room that showed up on my card. Not a nice surprise. So much for the promises to make it right. Instead we paid about 50% of the cost of a “one bedroom residence” for 5 nights and got 2 nights in a hotel room.

Not cool lodge at vail. Not cool.

The Lodge has been a wonderful experience. The accommodations and views have been breathtaking. There is access to many areas within walking distance and they have been welcoming each time we enter the front. I requested a mini fridge for allergy-friendly foods and was accommodated well without charge. The daily fee for internet and access to the steam room and gym is $35 and valet by the day is $50. There is access to a garage for parking. However, the ease of valet made it worth it especially due to a whole crew visiting.

We had a very nice stay here. Service can't be beat, from our arrival at the door to our departure, everyone provided most friendly, knowledgeable, excellent service. With a shout out to Hannah, concierge gave me a lot of help with restaurant reservations (make them early !). Our primary consideration for choosing this property was for location, ski in/out, for closest access to the gondola as well as the village area. This was definitely the right decision. Excellent ! Easy walk to restaurants, everything.

We had a two-bedroom condo which was spacious, comfortable. Everything worked. The kitchen had been recently remodeled, new appliances. We made good use of the kitchen, brought groceries. (Note there is no cheap food in Vail. The closest store is miles down the interstate. Be ready.) Beds were comfy. Bathrooms in excellent condition. All furniture wasn't brand new, but it was all good. Maid service was exceptional (cleared the dishwasher !!). Pleasant balcony.

Overall, property and its people served us very well. It was what we needed, and we had a very nice stay here.

I stayed at the Lodge at Vail resort for 2 nights August 10-11 together with my sister and friend.
It is an excellent hotel, the Location is fabulous within walking distance to the Village and all the stores , restaurants and the gondola
The staff is very professional, especially the lady Concierge who helped us quite a bit giving us all kinds of tips and directions.
. We had an issue with Booking.com which made the reservation for one king bed instead of two queens which is what we originally requested, however the hotel was very accommodating and changed the reservation and gave us two queen beds.
Breakfast st Cucina at the hotel was super nice
I highly recommend the hotel restaurant, Elway’s steakhouse , we ate there twice and the food was absolutely delicious.
I highly recommend this hotel

Snow this time of year is a high possibility. I️ just checked out the weather report for next week and it looks like snow on Friday. The lodge is right at the bottom of the ski lifts so great if you like skiing. Also shopping nearby. Others may be able to direct you to a local calendar of events for Christmas offerings.
