The Under Armour deal meant that Cal was going to get a greater level of attention in their branding. Those details have been seen in new uniforms, touches around the stadium, like the fault line, and now they've listened to somethings fans have been clamoring for over the last few years.

Cal announced through a video on Twitter the return of the Joe Roth era throwback uniforms, to be worn for the Joe Roth Memorial game against USC on September 23rd.

These jerseys have a sentimental place, honoring Roth and his 1975 Cal team that won a share of the Pac-8, but are mainly associated with Roth. Roth, one of Cal's most storied quarterbacks, played the entirety of the 1976 season while dealing with a malignant melanoma, one that recurred and metastasized, eventually taking his life in February of 1977. Roth's number 12 is the only number retired by Cal, and every year, the home game against the Los Angeles school is the Joe Roth Memorial Game.

The last time the Bears wore Joe Roth throwbacks was ten years ago, in a 24-20 rainy loss to USC in 2007. Those jerseys were auctioned off for charity, as it appears these will be as well.

Here's kicker Matt Anderson modeling said jerseys, as the Bears look to make this a yearly thing for home games against LA opponents.
