“Fools Gold” is an moderately uptempo R&B song about coming to grips with being abandoned at the end of a relationship once thought to be perfect. The song is anchored by samples of a “Evening Star” by Japanese jazz artist Yutaka Yokokura, and the use of a classic breakbeat by Detroit Emeralds.
