The beauty, simplicity and fundamental truths of human existence in this primitive locale provide a backdrop for Brian's rediscovery of life, love, courage and dignity. I was a young teen around 15 when we went to see the movie and the movie we seen was not shown on the commercial cinema in a small town but in the public community.

It was a very touching movie and I never forgotten that movie, I spent many year searching for this movie and am very happy I gets to see it again on Amazon Prime Video and I also ordered it in Blu-ray disc.

This movie means a lot to me it's because I am a member of the Haida tribes in my town they have originated from British Columbia Canada.

Thank you for this movie.

I had the earlier issues of this movie (before Blu ray) and it was almost impossible to fully enjoy because the reproductions were so grainy. While the Blu ray version is still not as sharp as regular Blu ray movies it sure beats earlier versions and worth buying. I always liked Tom Courtenay performances and he is outstanding here.

I saw this at the insistance of my grandmother the first time it aired. I was immediately struck by the beauty and timelieness of the story. Yes, it differs slightly from the novel, but is just as beautiful.

This is like a family movie because it was filmed in our local village. Most of the adults are now passed away so we watch this movie with nostalgia. The village was chosen for the movie setting because Indian Affairs arrange for the community to receive a electric generator which it needed badly for its cooperation. we still watch it and enjoy seeing the old people...the storyline is somewhat bogus and exaggerated but....hey it was a Xmas movie by General Electric about Indians....it wasn't going to be insightful!

3.0 out of 5 stars It gives a window into one of our BC coastal villages.

I was pleased to see that the film is actually available on BluRay. The quality is better and I remember how moved I was by the story. Shot locally as well and some of the 'actors' in the village were people that an old friend knew when she taught school in the village many decades ago.
