It's one of the most wonderful places for a night-out in the whole of West Cork! Ma Murphy's receives many great plaudits, mainly because it has maintained its original guise. This is a credit to the previous proprietors of the bar, (which dates back as far as the eighteenth century) and is also very much appreciated by the local community and visitors to West Cork. Ma Murphy's Traditional Bar oozes charm and class and is a complete manifestation of all things Irish. What a lucky find we had with this bar when in Bantry. From the outside it looks like a really old small bar. As you enter its like walking into an old shop. It's so cute.
We booked a table here for dinner. It's a small limited menu and I'm presuming this the chippers next door are providing the food.
The food was lovely. The nicest chip's I've ever tasted.
The staff were so nice. The girl who sat us was just so lovely. She sat us way out the back in what was once an old forge. We found this out as the girl who took our order is the owner and gave us a little bit of history on the place. Another really nice girl.
This place is a gem. Don't be fooled by it looking small from the outside. It meanders on and on.

What a lovely pub!! Such a perfect old Irish bar. Our visit was made all the more enjoyable by the lovely Rebecca, so so nice, lit the fire for us and pours a fantastic pint! She is a credit to the pub. Wonderful experience.

Unspoiled traditional pub, great for a quiet drink with friends. A few of the other pubs seemed to have a noisy and/or unpleasant element (wouldn't have gone in to the anchor bar judging from the crowd smoking outside) but Ma Murphy's was lovely.
Didn't have food here so can't comment on it, but the overall attitude of the owners is to please.

i WENT LOOKING FOR THIS PLACE AS TRIP ADVISOR SAYS ITS THE BEST RESTAURANT IN bANTRY.......??? Its not a restaurant I was very dissappointed... Its a Goegeous old fashioned pub and I would give it 5 stars for that reason, but trip advisor.. Please put things in their right place.. PUB Bar DRINKS is not = to restaurant..... Please fix and I will alter my review

A lovely old bar and friendly staff. We visited for a drink before dinner and enjoyed ourselves so much we came back after dinner and to our delight there was a band playing in the back bar. A great fun evening.

Came down to bantry for a peaceful few days. Everyone in the town recommended the pub so highly that I was afraid to come in! I was not disappointed- it seeps in old irish character. For a quiet pint to a musical session this pub has it all. The owner,Bill, has a lot to be proud of. I will be back.

If you want to get a feeling of one of the original pubs, Ma Murphy’s would fit the bill. We had pint and went in to find a place to eat.

We went in her twice. First time. We could hardly find the staff.
Second time staff were very friendly but slow to provide drinks.
There are several rooms in this pub, a very cramped inital area off the street and a back area and then a rambling area that extends into an open courtyard with wood stumps for stools. Even ona sunny day it is pretty shady.
I suggest skipping this place, other better options unless you like a bohemian hangout.

We wanted to stop for a pint in the garden. Bar staff was super friendly and gave us a chocolate bar when we left. It would be great action when music is on at nite.

Had a beautiful pint of Guinness here and it was one of the best I've ever had, if your in Bantry Co. Cork it's a good place to visit
