Granite Hills High School Reviews
Rating 3.86 out of 5 467 reviews
I've been at Granite Hills High School for all 4 years of my high school career. I was a 4-year varsity athlete in two sports, football and track in field. I'm also part of the varsity basketball and volleyball team. I'm a multi-state, CIF, and League champ across all the sports I play. Granite is a sports centered school that pushes academics above everything. Despite participating in 4 sports, I was able to keep a 4.0GPA and all my teachers throughout the years have always been phenomenal help. Lifelong friends have been made along the way for me and my time at Granite will always be a positive for me to look back on. My only complaint about the school is the fence that's going up around the school next year is a horrible idea.
The performing arts there are great but the people there can be very toxic. The teachers are 9/10 times wonderful and while classes can be difficult, they are also rewarding. The bathrooms always smell like weed or vapes. The campus is nice with a mural and NHS working on planting for gardens and more life on the campus. The food there is free and while not the best, it is still pretty alright. They also have opportunities to publish writings, drawings, poems. There is even an international fair where the school invites students to showcase their culture with other students on the campus through performances, art, slide shows and food. People can be rude but overall, it's a good school, you meet wonderful people there and the staff is great.
I came to Granite Hills at a time in the world when we were not allowed to sit inside full classrooms and talk to our friends without a mask over our mouths and it made me appreciate the staff and the coordination of Granite Hills so much more once my high school experience became "normal" again. I feel connected to my teachers at this point in my high school career but, during my freshman and sophomore years, I felt very distant and unknown to my teachers and other staff members that I should have felt so close to.
