Reviews
- For the person looking at an extension of Dorsey's work with the Bowie movement of late, there isn't a lot to parallel this work to that. This is a different cannon entirely.
It is however a relevant and welcome contribution to the genre of singer/songwriter/mutli instrumentalist/etc. The expectation can understandably be for Dorsey to come out with something highly eccentric and experimental, especially if you delve deep into the treatments she gives as a bass player to the likes of Bowie's repertoire. This record however is a very well articulated, very meaningful and very honest collection of well produced, easy to listen to songs that don't fit pop, don't fit rock, soul, funk, jazz or any other genre (in fact, it doesn't come close to many of these). It is just a nice offering that has themes within the lyrics that may or may not resonant with you.
I love the album.
