The MGM+ original horror series From has delivered the scares for its first two seasons, and there's exciting news about season 3. Debuting in 2022, the story follows the denizens of a mysterious town who are compelled to stay by powerful forces. From impressed with its acting and writing, and has become something of an underrated gem for the premium cable network. Often compared to ABC's Lost because of its twisting use of narrative and blending of genres, many episodes of From have been helmed by Lost lead director Jack Bender.

Despite its underrated status, From has garnered a heap of praise from critics and maintains a Rotten Tomatoes score above 90%. The biggest hurdle that the horror series had to overcome was continuing its success into From season 2, and fortunately, the second season delivered. From gained approval from horror icon Stephen King which seemed to suggest that the future of the fledgling series was looking bright. With From season 3 on the way there's already a wildfire of rumors, speculation, and cast insight hinting where the breakout mystery drama will go next.

Season 3 Was Quickly Renewed

It took no time at all for From to score a season 3 renewal, and online buzz alone was enough to catapult the show forward at MGM+. Though the original programs on the streamer tend to keep a tight schedule, the dual Hollywood strikes of 2023 undoubtedly put a damper on the show's production. However, the newest season is still moving forward as planned.

The WGA strike was resolved on September 27th, 2023.

Though the exact release date is still unknown, it has been revealed that From season 3 is returning sometime in fall 2024. With production also wrapped, the release could come sooner rather than later, but it might behoove MGM+ to release the series closer to Halloween to capitalize on the increased interest in horror content around the holiday.

From Season 3 Cast

Expect The Main Cast To Return

Much of the cast of From returned for season 2, and that trend will probably continue with the From season 3 cast too. The most likely return is Harold Perrineau as Boyd Stevens, the town's de facto sheriff and mayor, but Catalina Sandino Moreno as Tabitha Matthews and Eion Bailey as Jim Matthews could also come back as well. The ending of season 2 left the door open for many surviving characters to return, and with many mysteries still unsolved, a mass return is what's needed for the show's next season.

Even More Mysteries In Season 3

Boyd talks to a little boy in From

There are a few larger pieces of the puzzle that the show could likely address as it begins its third year on the air, not the least of which is the real meaning of From's cicadas. The From season 2 finale had the biggest climax that the show has seen thus far, as Tabitha is pushed out of the glass window by The Boy in White and then wakes up after a coma, hinting that she might have died. All signs seem to suggest that From season 3 will only be more intense and not let up after season 2's shocking conclusion.

Months before the show's fall 2024 release window, MGM+ has released a teaser trailer to hype up the show's next batch of episodes. Coming at the halfway point to Halloween, the teaser opens with a body being carried across town in a wheelbarrow, though the identity isn't disclosed. Then, Boyd is tied up and forced to watch someone being tortured, all because he had the gall to claim that the Township couldn't break his spirit. From season 3 is looking to be just as emotional as it is scary.
