‘80s Chinese Singer Wen Zhang Lives In A Sprawling 3-Storey Bungalow In Singapore

The 62-year-old singer frequently gives fans a glimpse of his not-so-humble abode on Weibo.

Mention the name Wen Zhang, and this 37-year-old Chinese actor, best known for playing Tang Sanzang in Stephen Chow’s 2013 adaptation of Journey to the West, probably comes to mind.

But long before he made it big (or was even born), it was ‘80s Chinese singer Wen Zhang who was a household name.

Known for his soulful voice and classic ballads like ‘Three Hundred and Sixty-Five Miles of Road’, Wen Zhang, who was born in Chaozhou and raised in Indonesia, was a huge star.

However, in 1994, at the height of his popularity, he was banned by Taiwan authorities, reportedly for performing without a permit.

He was not allowed to perform or release new music, which caused his popularity to plummet.

He made a comeback four years later after the ban was lifted, but was never able to achieve the same level of popularity.

Despite this, Wen Zhang, 63, has continued to make new music and never really completely disappear from the public eye.

He released an eponymous album in 2019 and still makes the occasional performance on Chinese variety shows and events.

Last year, he performed Covid-19 song ‘Take Flight’ on CCTV talent show Universal Show, and recently held a series of concerts in Los Angeles.

He is also pretty active on Weibo, frequently showing snippets of his home and life in Singapore, where he is based.

Home for Wen Zhang is a sprawling three-story bungalow which boasts a huge garden and pool.

The interior is equally impressive. One video, which showed him singing karaoke, exposed how huge and lavishly decorated his living room is, and another showed off his spacious balcony, which looks larger than most HDB bedrooms.

While it is not known when Wen Zhang relocated to Singapore, he has always been a fan of our country and used to own properties here.

He previously shared that he frequently visits Singapore and had considered applying for PR here.

Looks like he achieved his dream.

Wen Zhang
has been living a life of leisure where he spends his days lounging by the pool and checking out some of the buzziest spots in town.
