The Best 33 films of Robert Duvall.
The consensus opinion among actors is that Robert Duvall is the most audacious, wild, free spirited character in Hollywood; nevertheless a flawless and wildly talented actor first and foremost. Ironically, Duvall earned his Oscar in the Best Actor category (Tender Mercies - 1983), while most of his quite memorable performances have been in supporting roles. From Boo Radley to Tom Hagen to Col Kilgore to Jerry Facher, Duvall has consistently elevated the films in which he appears to classics, in many cases. Duvall appears more than any other actor in the A.F.I., s top 100 movies. Coincidence? Not hardly. Duvall debuted in To Kill a Mockingbird and appeared in many popular films of the 60's, Bullitt, True Grit, The Chase; then went on to play the consumate Tom Hagen in both Godfather and Godfather II, followed by tour de force appearances in Network and Apocalypse Now. Then, his signature role in "The Great Santini" is just superb and my personal favorite. Just astonishing is the impact of Duvall's presence in the films in which he appeared. Here are 33 of the best of the wonderful Bobby Duvall.
