How To Change Power Supply - Dimension 8250
Hi,
I was wondering if anyone can give any recommendations about purchasing a new power supply. Mine is dead. I've heard some are better than others. Also, is this something that must be done by a computer hardware tech, or is this relatively easy.

The following are Dell's instructions for replacing the D8250 PSU and it should be fairly easy for you to replace.
You can buy a new PSU for the D8250 from Dell Spare Parts Phone 800.372.3355. M-F 8 to 5 CDT
Or, from
http://www.pcpowercooling.com/products/power_supplies/selector/index.htm
Their PSUs are excellent, but they may cost more than Dell's Spare Parts.
Also, you could use a standard ATX PSU, but, using one of these, then you may have to modifiy the case for the power switch.
