A suspect was found dead Sunday morning after a barricade situation that began Friday in a Henderson neighborhood.

Authorities said a possibly armed suspect was in the 200 block of Callen Falls Avenue, near Galleria and Cadence Vista drives near the Cadence area Friday morning.

Henderson Police remained on scene on Saturday, attempting negotiations for a "peaceful resolution."

According to the post, an officer-involved shooting occurred around 8:45 a.m., marking the first officer-involved shooting for 2024.

No injuries to the suspect or officers were reported.

The Henderson Police Department identified the officer involved as Officer Taylor Young.

Officer Young has been employed by the Henderson Police Department since June 2017 and is currently assigned to the Field Operations Bureau.

Officer Young has been placed on paid administrative leave, per department policy.

On Sunday, Henderson Police said the suspect was found dead.

The Clark County coroner identified the suspect as 31-year-old Trevor Cooper.

The American Red Cross of Southern Nevada provided aid after the barricaded building sustained damage.

Volunteers assisted about 20 residents evacuated from six apartment units with access to essential items such as clothing and food, replacement prescription medications, and safe accommodations.

Las Vegas Metropolitan Police, SWAT, and crisis negotiators were also on scene to assist.

Travel lanes and sidewalks on East Galleria Drive from Cadence Vista Drive to Water Street reopened, police said.

No other details were provided.
