Although, my freshman year at Wake Forest High School was online due to the outbreak of the Covid-19 virus, my experience at Wake Forest was a great one! I honestly don't feel like I had any bad experiences while attending this school. The best parts of my experience at the school was the sports and the competitive atmosphere with the students and student athletes!
Wake Forest High School is overall, a pretty decent school. It only lacks in the arts and music departments. The sports departments get far more funding and support than creative arts.
It was a great school overall. I was provided all of the resources needed to succeed academically. I wish I really took advantage of the extracurricular activities and events that were offered, but I was extremely focused on academics and nothing else. Wake Forest provides all the resources necessary for students to emerge into the world as well rounded individuals.
WFHS is great for its diversity and arts programs. If you are looking to meet lots of different kinds of people in high school, this is a good choice. It's also excellent if you want to pursue theater or technical theater. It is a large public school, though, and suffers with modern safety concerns because of that.
Trash school. Administration is a joke and do not do their job in the slightest. I have been reaching out for six months with no response from guidance. I have turned in multiple forms for PowerSchool , drivers Ed, change of address and multiple other items and they are always lost and “not been able to be found”. They continually bully and talk down to children and make them feel inferior all because they’re on a power trip. Children skip and they do nothing even after parents call the front office to report it. Staff is too lazy to do their job. It’s known knowledge that the office admin who processed paperwork was fired for failing to do her job and instead just throwing forms away. Yet, the remaining office admins try to gaslight parents and the children saying you never submitted it knowing good and well the situation at hand and that school staff fail to do their job. The school that was once a sought after school in the county is now one to avoid like the plague.
This school has way too many incompetent teachers which make the ones who are competent look bad. There are constant fights and administration doesn't do much.
As a senior of WFHS, I have seen the changes in how the school is run since the principal has stepped in. With the new principal, the school seems safer and focuses more on discipline.
I had an overall good experience with Wake Forest High School. My best experiences were with the JROTC program, it facilitated much of my community service involvement as well as allowed me to gain leadership experience as I went through the program. It also is where I made most of my friends through the events we did in school and around the community. The worst parts of my experience were related to college readiness and communication between the administration, student body and parents. It often felt like information was not readily available or certain processes were made difficult for no reason. The school made no move to educate its seniors on ways to pay for college, the options you have for your future, and preparing you for adult life in general. Though this is understandable as during my senior year the world was still grappling with the effects of COVID.
Overall, my experience with Wake Forest High School has been positive and beneficial. The majority of teachers that I had the pleasure of having were kind, committed, and determined. The issues I did have with WFHS were quickly resolved. I do believe that some of the staff (including teachers and administration – although, especially, substitute teachers) are on a power trip; however, the majority are friendly and work in the student’s best interest. They do the best they can with the resources provided to them (books 20+ years old that are falling apart while the county wastes thousands of dollars on new smart screens). The majority of my peers are friendly and definitely take part in school spirit. Lastly, I feel that WFHS has adequately prepared me for college with AP courses and otherwise.
Wake Forest High School is a very large school with a large range of classes offered. I have been able to explore many areas of study throughout my time at the school. This has been incredibly helpful in preparing me for college and life outside of school as I have been able to explore different paths that I could take after high school. The faculty and administration have been helpful and supportive, especially with all the big decisions of senior year.
WFHS has plenty of choices for any type of academic activity you want. It also has several teachers that I can share a great connection with, but there are a few who don't put in enough effort. Very good student resources; however, the faculty is lacking.
After attending 4 years at Wake Forest High School I found it a very academic and safe place to attend. The faculty gives the school a homey feeling and allows you to express yourself how you want. One of the bigger issues are the amount of physical altercations that occur. Fortunately the faculty finds a way to break it up and resolve any issues.
At Wake Forest Highschool I enjoy seeing my friends and laughing/talking with them. I love to visit one of my favorite teacher’s room and talk with her too. I love math and any class that’s easy for me.
The best thing I would say about wake Forest high school has to be the teachers. They give you a lot of support so that you have no choice but to be successful. They do their best to help you when you don’t quite understand something which is helpful because I was struggling with math and spanish my junior year. But them having hours after to school for that one on one time helped me manage to maintain A B honor roll that year. I don’t believe that I have had any bad parts while I’ve been there to be honest. Only thing that was bad in my opinion was trying to get to class because it would be so crowded. Only thing I would like to see then change is the time transitioning to classes because sometimes it’s to crowded for you to get to you next class.
the students at the school are pleasant and kind but the staff could use some work. Some of the staff enjoy belittling students to make themselves feel inferior and to set a form of dominance. Also in addition to that the school is very sport oriented and doesn’t pay any attention to the actual students at the school.
Wake Forest High school (also known as W.F.H.S.) was a pretty good school, I personally enjoyed it. Most of the teacher were alright and the students were pretty cool. Because of the size of the school, it has A pretty diverse selection of students there. I will say though it was some how underfunded but too funded at the same time, such as we didn't have enough money to get teachers supplies and help out on things that we needed, but we put $5,000,000 in just the football field. There also were some bad teachers, a lot really annoying ones that you can actually end up in. Some classes aren't needed and you should probably never take unless you're interested in the concept. Overall the school itself was fine and enjoyable, and if you end up going there you'll probably enjoy it.
Obviously covid is a factor in my college experience but I do think that part of the worst parts of high school was it felt like some of the teachers don't care.
