Peggy Lee's voice conveys all of the moods of the season—joy, peacefulness, fun, sacredness. There's even a touch of mischief in Santa Claus is Comin' to Town. It rides effortlessly on top of the gentle arrangements of Billy May. The informal style of the children singing in the background (that another reviewer didn't like) add a spontaneous, realistic magic to the sound.
With all those good things, the best thing about the album are the original songs by Peggy Lee that I can't remember being covered by anyone else. Particularly good is the title track, which swirls so beautifully that you can feel your heart and soul being lifted.
