Senior Day Goes to Extra-Innings, OC Honors Nine Seniors

Oklahoma City, Okla. - Oklahoma Christian (11-39, 11-37) took on UT Permian Basin (30-20, 28-20) and closed the regular season with a Sunday early afternoon game.

Game 4

Andrew Alonzo started on the mound for the Eagles, and after a shaky start, letting the first three batters on base, going for three straight outs to get out of a first-inning jam.

OC wanted to start quickly as Hank Heiselbetz lived up to his leadoff spot, cranking a ball off the right-center wall to get to second. Taking advantage of a wild pitch, Heiselbetz was in perfect position on third base to score off a sacrifice fly ball from Sloan Laird

The Eagles quickly put two more players on the base with Hunter Jones and Brandon Warwick, as Justin Spencer blasted a ball off of first base to score another run and extend the Eagles lead. Warwick would show off his speed scoring from third on a wild pitch from the Falcons. Johnny Behm kept the Eagles going with a hit to shallow left-center to get the fourth run of the inning across.

The Falcons put one run on the board in the top of the fourth to cut into the Eagles' lead. However, the Eagles would get the run back in the bottom of the fourth with Justin Spencer hitting a hard ball at the first baseman, who was unable to come up with it, allowing Heiselbetz to cross home.

UTPB continued to chip away at the Eagles' lead, going into the bottom of the seventh, with a score of 5-4.

Greg Maskarine, on senior day, took it upon himself to extend the lead back to two runs, with a blast over the left-center field wall to lead off the bottom of the seventh inning.

The Falcons would not go down without a fight, taking the lead in the top of the ninth inning.

Johnny Behm ripped a ball into left center, for a leadoff single in the bottom of the ninth, Colby Farris, next laid down the perfect sacrifice bunt to put the Eagles in scoring position with a runner on second, and down to their final out of the season.

This brought up Antonio Sabala in his first at-bat of the day, driving the ball back up the middle to tie the game at seven runs.

The Eagles weren't ready to see the season end, as we would need extra innings to decide this final game of the season.

The Eagles worked to get the game within one run, before falling in the final game of the season.
