She grew up in Halifax. Attended QEH and HCVHS. Following graduation she was employed at Municipal Contracting/Dexter Construction for over fifty years as a secretary.
In 1955 married Stewart MacMillan and together they had sixty years of a happy and fulfilling marriage until his passing in 2015. Their door was always open and they enjoyed company hosting many family gatherings and other functions at their home on Campbell Drive when many a bowl of lobster chowder was enjoyed.
She was a member of St. Andrew's United Church and together with her parents combined for 85 years teaching in the Sunday School. She was a charter member of the UCW.
In early years she was active in bowling throughout the Maritimes She enjoyed baking, playing cards, embroidery, ligsaw and crossword puzzles, playing the piano and watching game shows and sports on TV (especially basketball and curling).
Most of all she enjoyed the love of her grandchildren.
Besides her parents she was predeceased by son Ronald and husband Stewart.
Dorothy is survived by grandson Colin, great grandchildren Shane and Laughlin and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held at J. A. Snow Funeral Home, 339 Lacewood Drive, Halifax on Friday December 22 from 2-4pm. Funeral service to be held at J. A. Snow Funeral Home on Saturday December 23 at 2:00pm with reception following after the service. Interment in Brookside Cemetery, Bedford.
