Lee Sun-kyun, the actor known for his role in the Oscar-winning film Parasite, was found unconscious in a car park during an ongoing drug investigation and was pronounced dead on Wednesday.
Lee was married to Jeon Hye-jin, who called the police about her husband's disappearance just hours before he was found dead. She was concerned after the actor left a letter behind. The couple got married in 2009 and have two children together.
Jeon was born on January 1, 1976, in South Korea. Just like Lee, Jeon is an actress. She is best known for her roles on The Throne, for which she won a Blue Dragon Film Award for Best Supporting Actress, The Merciless and Hunt. She became an actress after being a contestant in the Miss Korea pageant in 1997, in which she represented Gyeongnam.

According to Korean Film, the actress did not imagine a career as a performer. In 1998, she began her journey with Chaimu, a theater company. In that year, she was cast in A Killing Story. She was featured in several productions with the company, such as The Sogue, There, Unification Express and Shape. In 2002, the actress pursued a career in acting when shooting the comedy Jungle Juice. She played the role of a twin sister to a male in the 2004 TV series I'm Sorry, I Love You. She recently played Bang Joo-kyung in the 2022 movie Hunt, as well as starring in the 2023 TV series Strangers.
Jeon has won several awards for her past roles, like the KOFRA Film Awards, the Korean Association of Film Critics Awards and the Cannes Film Festival, according to IMDb.
The Parasite actor and Jeon were together for seven years before getting married in 2009.
Lee died on Wednesday and was found inside a car. South Korean media said he was found slumped in a vehicle next to a charcoal briquette used for starting fires. The actor was subjected to a drug probe and had reportedly been under investigation since October for alleged illegal drug use. Days before his death, Lee was held for 19 hours of questioning, during which he said he was being blackmailed by his accusers.
