Slip on your dancing shoes, because Sophie Ellis-Bextor just transformed The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon into a full-on disco.

How to Watch

Watch The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on NBC weeknights at 11:35/10:35c and next day on Peacock

On February 12, the singer of that song from Saltburn's final scene made her U.S. television debut, performing her hit song, "Murder on the Dancefloor." The 2001 track has received new life thanks to being featured in Emerald Fennell's hit movie starring Jacob Elordi and Barry Keoghan.

While Ellis-Bextor's performance didn't include a naked Keoghan dancing to the tune (like he does in the movie), it did feature a giant disco ball, confetti, and a crowd of ecstatic fans eager to see her live.

"Should we do it all together, for old times' sake?" she asked the audience as she broke out some of the signature leg kicks from the song's classic music video.

The British singer is finally finding success in the U.S., thanks to her song being featured on the Saltburn soundtrack, and going viral on TikTok. But Ellis-Bextor has been one of the queens of the pop scene across the pond for decades.

While "Murder on the Dancefloor" is a hit in America now, the track originally came out in 2001. It recently matched its original chart position from its release year, hitting no. 2 on the U.K. singles chart. The song even made its U.S. Hot 100 debut last month at no. 98, eventually rising to its peak at no. 51 (it's currently at no. 59).

Ellis-Bextor isn't the only one riding the surprising success of Saltburn. One of the film's stars, Australian actor Jacob Elordi, hosted Saturday Night Live for the first time on January 20. Saltburn also received two Golden Globe nominations and five BAFTA Film Award nominations, and it even inspired some interesting merch, like a candle that is supposed to smell like Elordi's Bath Water (if you've seen the movie you know why), and a Saltbomb from Lush.

With her first U.S. television appearance, and her upcoming first live show in New York, if you think you are getting away (from this song), Ellis-Bextor is here to prove you wrong. Watch her bring her disco fantasia — with help from The Roots — above.
