As far as modern animated franchises go, Despicable Me is undoubtedly one of the best-known and most lucrative ones in history. It all began in 2010 and now, 14 years later, we have three main movies, two spin-off prequels, numerous shorts, and an upcoming fourth movie, Despicable Me 4, which is set to be released in theaters on July 3, 2024. Now, the premiere is not that far away, so we already know a lot about the upcoming movie, but Illumination has today blessed us with yet another trailer, which you will be able to see below!

The Despicable Me series focuses on the villain Gru and his henchmen, the Minions; Gru initially aims to become the world’s most feared villain, but his story changes as he encounters three orphan girls named Margo, Edith, and Agnes, who soon become his adopted daughters and change his plans. After Despicable Me, a sequel was released in 2013, followed by the 2015 prequel movie Minions, which told us more about the titular characters and their encounter with Gru. It was all followed by a second main sequel in 2017 and another Minion-centered prequel in 2022.

We have promised you a trailer, so before we continue, please, take a look at the second official trailer for the upcoming Despicable Me 4 movie:

As you can see, the movie promises to be another action-packed fun ride, and we believe that fans of the series, as well as children, will be satisfied with the final product. The trailer definitely looks promising. So, what do we know about the movie in the first place? The official synopsis for the movie reveals the following details:

Gru (Carell), the world’s favorite supervillain-turned-Anti-Villain League-agent, returns for an exciting, bold new era of Minions mayhem, alongside his wife and fellow Anti-Villain League-agent Lucy (Wiig), their three adopted girls —Margo (Cosgrove), Edith (Gaier) and Agnes (Polan)— and the newest member to the Gru family, Gru Jr., who is intent on tormenting his dad. The family is forced to go on the run when they become targeted by escaped criminal Maxime Le Mal (Ferrell) and his femme fatale girlfriend Valentina (Vergara).

Chris Renaud is back as director, while the screenplay has been written by Mike White and Ken Daurio, long-time Illumination writers who have experience with the franchise. As for the cast, Steve Carrell is back as Gru, and he is joined by Kristen Wiig as Lucy Wilde, Miranda Cosgrove as Margo, Dana Gaier as Edith, Madison Polan as Agnes, Steve Coogan as Silas Ramsbottom, and Pierre Coffin as the Minions.
