Boston College is exactly what you make of it. There is no Greek life, so much of the social life revolves around clubs and student organizations. If you apply to these, you will easily find your people. The student life is very easy to find your place in, especially because, as a freshman, it is very welcoming. However, if you do not try to be involved, it will not just fall into your lap. I know plenty of people who were not involved in anything and their circle and fun-ness stayed small.
Diversity on campus was lacking. While there are student organizations that help students of color feel more welcome, these communities usually stick with each other. This leads to it being difficult to really connect with others who are different then oneself.
Overall, BC had a welcoming student body and amazing campus. As a young woman, I never felt unsafe walking around campus as night. The school introduced me to some of my lifelong friends, for which I am forever grateful.

I chose Boston College over Tufts University because Boston College cares much more about optimizing its students' experience. It ensures that students are secured with housing, offered top-tier academics, and welcomed into an elite community. Unlike Tufts, BC has a stable housing system that accommodates all students equally.
It is an amazing place to go to school. You live in a closed campus in the suburbs which is only a quick ride into Boston - so you get the best of both worlds. The professors are very intelligent and eager to help you if you connect with them. The food can be redundant but that is everywhere. The tailgates and campus activity events are always fun. It is academically challenging, but not overbearing once you adjust.
