Contrary to the previous comment, let me try make a compelling case for THIS compilation vs the myriad other Frankie compo's:
This has the same collection of hits and best album tracks as Bang and Frankie Said (FS) (in some cases a more common mix version certainly than on FS...). But there is no b-side filler as is on Sex Mix compilation. Disc 1 here sounds really good with just one track from Liverpool (I forget which) sounding a little bit flat, with the same average DR loudness measurements as FS or Sex Mix, better than the butchered loudness of the Bang re-release but not as good as the original Bang release.
But it's the second disc on 'The Best Of' that should sell this compilation to you - it has on it in one place 5 of the great FGTH 12 inch releases, and all sound big and dynamic again with pretty decent DR values (average for the disc is DR 9, but WttP and Rage Hard are both good 10 DR's).
The Sex mix of Relax may not be most people's favourite, but it's engaging and interesting in its own right. There are not many variations on TPoL, so this common extended version is the normal one featured on most compilations and it's just fine, you can't improve on it - the vocal-less TPoL on Frankie Said for example really adds nothing special... The Ahnihiliation mix of Two Tribes is also well used on compilations, but very good (although I prefer the New York mix more).
So that leaves the best to last. You see NOWHERE else except the botched stereo Sex Mix release (which is also full of b-side guff, and the awful and tedious chatter between the band) can you get the holy grail of WttP mixes 'How To Remake The World' and Rage Hard +++*, with the former being over 10 minutes of pure bass driven groove bliss, and the latter featuring the stunning Pamela Stephenson narrated 'Young Person's Guide To The 12" ' mix... These two last 12" mixes are worth the price alone, and the fact they are good non-brickwalled masters which sound great and have DR values as good as the 'Sex Mix' cd release is just fantastic - you get the best of that release but for a quarter of the price... This release is budget in packaging, but certainly not in audio quality. This compilation is replacing my Frankie Said compo', and I even prefer the design over the Anton Corbijn styled Frankie Said... Cheap as chips, very good quality and an unbelievable 2nd disc of stellar mixes - buy it! referencing The Best Of (2×CD, Compilation) METRSL074
Does the world really need this album? Frankie say NO
