Joseph C. Stephens, 92, entered into rest Friday December 15, 2023, at Country Meadows of Leader Heights. He was the husband of the late Joan M. (Staub) Stephens whom he loved unconditionally.

A visitation will be 9-10 a.m. Saturday, December 23, at St. Mary's Church 309 S. George Street, York, PA. The Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10 a.m. at the church with Rev. John Kuchinski as celebrant. Burial will follow at Holy Saviour Cemetery with full military rites presented by York Co. Veterans Honor Guard. The John W. Keffer Funeral Homes and Crematory, Inc., East York, is assisting with the arrangements.

Mr. Stephens was born November 19, 1931, in York, a son of the late Mary Ann Miller Robison and stepson of Charles Robison. He was a member of St. Mary's Church. He was a graduate of Manchester High School and an avid Soccer player. He served in the US Army during the Korean War. He was employed at Caterpillar Tractor until he retired. He was a member of the Knights of St. Paul.

Joseph is survived by his daughters Melissa Schneider and her husband James, Alicia Martin and her husband Scott Copenheaver, JoAnne Schultz and her husband Michael; grandchildren Matthew Schneider and his wife Jennifer, Emily Mink and her husband Hunter, Carolyn Smith and her husband Richard, Anthony Schneider and his husband Michael Dixon, Janitha Jo Martin, Ethan Schultz, Wyatt Schultz; great-grandchildren Brooke and Brianna Mink, Richard and Benjamin Smith, Audrey and Josie Schneider; and a loving extended family.

Joe was a quiet, patient man who loved life. He was as sturdy as the oak trees he admired, and possessed an enduring dedication to his wife, daughters, and family. Committed to his faith, he selflessly volunteered whenever needed. He toiled hours in his garden, loved nature and creating beauty with his own hands. Joe’s life strengthens the realization that life’s riches are not found in material wealth, instead in the precious gifts bestowed from heaven above. His daily presence, positive remarks, and sense of humor, which made us smile, will be deeply missed. His spirit of kindness inspires us to live gracious and humble until we meet him again.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary’s.
