This beautiful old church was built in 1818, and it's Church of Ireland. It was designed by Henry Edward Kendall, and it's gothic style. It's situated in the centre of town, just off Wolfe Tone Square. Bantry claims an ancient connection with St Brendan, who was the first person to discover America.

Lovely church in well maintained condition. Great history here with many memorials to various Earls of Bantry and multiple generations of local families.

The Church of Ireland church of St Brendan looked nice from the quay but unfortunately was closed today. The pretty clock showed the correct time.

You can't miss St. Brendan's Church - it is on the main square in the centre of Bantry. Well worth a visit - a charming "Gothick" style Protestant church, symmetrical facade with a tower to the west. Inside some interesting memorials to gentry from the area including Richard White who was granted a peerage for his "patriotic" work in keeping Wolfe Tone and the French fleet at sea in December 1796. Still used for services and well cared for by the small Church of Ireland (Protestant) community.

Not always open - but was when I visited and tends to be open in the summer most days.

We were in Bantry for only 24 hours and as my wife I love old houses and churches we had to include this one. Well worth a visit and a silent prayer. Definitely give this little gem a visit - it won't disappoint. Loved the windows and the location, right in the middle of the town, as the old Established churches usually were.

This church was very close to the main square of Bantry. It looked very interesting from the outside but the cleric there said the inside was closed so I cannot comment on the inside.

A great music venue, but also a window on the days when the protestant religion was thriving in Ireland. It is a a great shame there are not more of these churches in such excellent preservation.
