My husband loves music and told me one day that he wishes he could find this CD. And what do you know...I found it here on Amazon. I think this is my first purchase that lured me into buying things religiously from amazon. Thanks Amazon! (for helping my find something that my hubby thought was impossible to find)

When I first bought this album, it was available in almost every store I went into. Nowadays, it has to be specially ordered. I don't get that, but I can tell you, it is worth the extra effort. This was the first Bowie album I bought. I wanted to get my feet wet and see if I would like any other songs besides "Ziggy Stardust." Well, I wasn't disappointed. This album offers a great overview of some of Bowie's greatest hits (and personas), from the looming "Space Oddity" all the way up to his 80's albums with "Modern Love" and "Blue Jean." My favorite song is "Heroes," although I was disappointed to learn that this song was an edited version. I am guessing that perhaps some of the other songs were edited as well. Still though, if you are a would-be Bowie fan who isn't sure about which albums to buy, this is a good way to get started on a collection from one of the greatest musical artists of the 20th (and 21st)century.

everything on here is absolutely essential, necessary for people to listen to! David Bowie is pretty much incomparable, but if I had to compare him to someone I would compare him to the Rolling Stones, but with more musicality and much better tunes. more of a glam rock version of the Stones, I think. Whatever these tunes are, they are really good. pick this one up as soon as possible. This is probably my current most favorite cd, but I wish it had "the man who sold the world" on it. Oh well, just pick up this, The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust, The Man who Sold the World, Hunky Dory, and Low for a complete Bowie collection. Or just get this as a terrific single disc retrospective of the best part of his career!

This is a fine compilation of 75 minutes worth of some of David Bowie's most popular songs. Is it perfect? No, but how could it be, when everyone has different favorite songs? Notable American hits that are missing are: "Under Pressure" with Queen, "This is Not America" with the Pat Metheny Group, "Dancing in the Street" with Mick Jagger, "Day-In Day-Out" and "Never Let Me Down". There are too many missing British hits to mention. Probably the most questionable decision was to include a 1990 remix of "Fame", instead of the original version. Still, it's an excellent sampler of Bowie's work.
