Elijah Stone is a recurring antagonist during the fourth and fifth seasons of The Rookie. He is played by Brandon Jay McLaren.

Wesley Evers was his reluctant attorney for a short time and Stone eventually began to show hostility towards Evers and his wife Angela Lopez, especially after Lopez and her LAPD colleagues had arrested him on multiple occasions.

History[]

Stone first appears in "Life and Death", when Wesley Evers asks Stone to help him find his wife Angela Lopez, who has been abducted by cartel leader Sandra de La Cruz and taken to Guatemala. Stone agrees to help him as long as Evers agrees to serve as a dirty lawyer for him, which Evers agrees to. Lopez is eventually rescued by Evers and her LAPD colleagues and returned safely to Los Angeles.

In "In the Line of Fire", Stone reminds Wesley of his promise to serve as his "dirty lawyer" and makes it clear that Wesley's family will be targeted if Wesley doesn't come through. In "Red Hot", Wesley tries to stay within the limits of the law while trying to appease Stone and get Stone's henchman released - but he discovers that Stone had the henchman murdered in his cell to keep the man from making a deal.

Stone returns again in "Fire Fight", where he has Wesley discredit a witness to a murder that Stone's cousin committed. Stone also threatens to harm Wesley's family again because he feels his demands are not being met, and he and his henchman also physically try to intimidate Evers as well. At this point, Wesley has finally had enough, and comes clean to Lopez about his deal with Stone.

In "Breakdown", Evers tries to wear a wire to implicate Stone in a meeting, but Stone realizes that he is being manipulated. He then proceeds to taunt Lopez, mockingly referring to her as "Angie" and correctly guessing that she is listening in to the meeting. At the end of the episode, Stone is arrested after most of his crew is ambushed by Abril Rodas, de La Cruz's former second in command who has taken leadership of the cartel and returned to LA to seek vengeance on Stone for revealing Lopez's location to Evers in "Life and Death". During her attack, Stone hid in a locker and was visibly scared, the most emotion he ever showed.

Stone returns again in "The Reckoning", where he tells Evers that the case they are building against him is destined to fail. Stone is proven right when Sean Del Monte admits to Stone's lawyer, Evers's ex-fiancée Monica Stevens, that they don't have a good enough case. Stone shows up after this, and gloats to Evers that he always wins in the end.

In "Crossfire", Stone claims that Evers has ruined his life ever since the La Fiera incident, and wants Wesley to publicly apologize to him in a press conference. Evers reluctantly agrees to this and does so in front of the assembled media while Lopez looks on.

In "The Naked and The Dead", Stone tries to eliminate some of his competition by having rival cartel leaders Quinlan Wright and Moses Warden go after each other. A witness later admits to Lopez and Nyla Harper that Stone had orchestrated the gang war.

In "Death Notice", Lopez and Harper do a surveillance detail on a suspect, until it is revealed that the suspect was an associate of Stone's. Harper is furious at Lopez for interfering with the investigation into Stone and leaves while a man working for Monica warns Lopez to stay away from Stone.

In "The Con", Lopez reveals to Stone that she is pregnant again and offers to give Stone intel on Abril Rodas's movements. An elaborate plan to take down Stone and Abril is then placed into motion, but is thwarted when Aaron Thorsen inadvertently tips off Stone that the LAPD was about to ambush him and his crew. The end of the episode shows that Stone and Abril have agreed to become partners and to stop going after one another.

In "The Enemy Within", the LAPD interrupts a drug deal between Stone and Abril, and Monica is shot during the ensuing shootout but survives. Lopez and Harper then go after Stone, but Stone gets the upper hand on Harper and is about to kill her before Lopez intervenes. The two engage in a fight before Harper recovers and joins the fight. The outmanned Stone eventually loses the fight and is arrested by Lopez once again. However, Stone reveals that he has one more trick up his sleeve: he has sent a hitman to kill Evers. Fortunately, Evers is able to fight off his attacker with the help of Charlie Bristow. Stone, who suffered a black eye and a broken arm during his fight with Lopez and Harper, is then sent to prison. He is escorted to his prison cell, and his neighbor across the hall is none other than Oscar Hutchinson. Stone then asks Oscar if he has any good revenge stories as the episode ends.
