Legendary songwriter Jackson Browne to join acclaimed singer-songwriter Pete Yorn for a benefit concert in support of Southern California’s leading Triple-A (adult album alternative) format radio station, 88.5-FM, The SoCal Sound, on Saturday, June 15.

In addition to Yorn, who is headlining the event, and Browne, others taking part in the “Benefest” for public, member-supported The SoCal Sound at the historic Alex Theatre in Glendale are folk and indie pop group JEMS, California-based indie pop band Cayucas and acclaimed British singer-songwriter Jade Bird.

“We are incredibly excited to bring together such a talented and diverse group of musicians for this special benefit concert,” said Patrick Osburn, general manager of The SoCal Sound. “The Alex Theatre has a rich history of hosting world-class performances and Benefest is no exception. We look forward to an evening of exceptional music and community support for a great cause.”

Browne has written and performed some of the most literate and moving songs in popular music and he has defined a genre of songwriting that is charged with honesty, emotion and personal politics. He is a member of both the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and the Songwriters Hall of Fame.

Yorn is an American singer, songwriter and musician who has gained international acclaim for such hits as “Life on a Chain” and “Strange Condition.” He first gained international recognition after his debut record, “Musicforthemorningafter,” was released to critical and commercial acclaim in 2001. Since then, he has released a number of albums to critical acclaim. Most recently, Yorn’s 10th full length album, “Hawaii,” was released in June 2022. His latest single, “Someday, Someday”, was released this January.

JEMS is known for its harmonically rich and evocative music that blends folk and indie rock. The trio are releasing their second album this month. The indie pop band Cayucas includes twin brothers Zach and Ben Yudin and is known for its catchy rhythms and nostalgic vides. Jade Bird’s powerful vocals and genre-defying sound have earned her a place among the most exciting young artists in music today. Tickets for the Benefest are now available for purchase at thesocalsound.org, TheAlex.com or Ticketmaster.com.

The Alex Theatre is a historic landmark in Glendale known for its striking architecture and rich cultural heritage. Since 1925, it has been a beacon of arts and entertainment, hosting a wide array of performances and events that enrich the community.

88.5-FM, The SoCal Sound, is a combined effort of California State University, Northridge, and Saddleback College, which began simulcasting as 88.5-FM in October 2017, linking the Los Angeles County- and Orange County-based signals. The station’s Triple-A programming is available on the KCSN and KSBR 88.5 HD1 channels, via the 88.5 app and online at www.TheSoCalSound.org.
