Finland’s Opposition Center Party Leader Saarikko to Step Down

The leader of Finland’s Center Party Annika Saarikko will step down from her post at the helm of the group currently in opposition in parliament.

Saarikko will continue as leader of her party until its next conference this summer and will not seek re-election, she told reporters on Thursday. Saarikko has led the Center Party since 2020 and served as a Finance Minister and a Deputy Prime Minister in former Prime Minister Sanna Marin’s cabinet.
