Barton can be seen as unsafe as I have had to deal with many abnormal instances and have been in uncomfortable situations while attending my first year here. There is a lack of security.
This is a boring school with academics that are mediocre at best. Nothing happens on campus or in the surrounding areas either. Weekends are completely dead without a soul in sight on campus. Whenever they do have events on campus, which are rare, they are almost always poorly planned or put together. There are also very limited options for campus engagement as there are a single digit number of active clubs. The food from the cafeteria is awful, it doesn't taste horrible, but I've gotten sick from the cafeteria multiple times. Classes are hit or miss; some professors are great and truly care about you learning the material and others are just downright intolerable. In my time here, there was an issue with the gradebook, and I couldn't see my actual grade on one of my classes until the very end of the semester. I plan to transfer. I'd only recommend Barton if you are from Wilson or have been offered a full ride.
Barton College is exactly what it claims to be and more. It is a small college with an immense atmosphere. While athletics is a huge reason for many students to attend, many will tell you that the community is the reason that they don't want to leave. Barton makes it easy to forge relationships that will not only last a lifetime but benefit you for a lifetime. Professors and staff go above and beyond to nurture and curate an exceptional college experience. I personally still contact my old math professors regularly. The Wilson community love Barton too, which only adds to the excitement on game day or when you are around town. If you want a college to feel just like home - go to Barton College.
The professors are great and the small class size really helped me. I especially liked the arts department. Unfortunately the quality of students severally declined over my four years. I had students literally point and laugh at me, constantly heard students talk behind my back, a group of students would constantly stare and laugh at me from across the entire cafeteria. Basically worse than middle-school tier behavior acted out by many students across campus. Not to mention the rise of crime in my final year such as a whole gang of students stealing from the self-checkout store...
Additionally, the inclusion of football seemed to take attention away from every other aspect of the college... Why does a 1000 student college even need a 2 million dollar football stadium?
The food from the cafeteria was terrible. Terrible. The other eating area is also severed by the same food provider, so the only outside food source is processed frozen food from the self-checkout store...

I was in and am currently in the Professional Studies program at Barton. It allows me to be able to obtain my bachelor's in Social Work while being a mother and working a full-time job at the same time. The staff and fellow students are very nice and helpful.
I had a terrific experience at Barton College during my time there. I met great people that I still keep in touch with until this day. One thing that I would like to see change is the size of the school. I truly believe that if the school was bigger, more people would take coming to Barton College into consideration.
Academically, Barton College offers a range of diverse and rigorous programs that have allowed me to explore my interests and pursue my educational goals. The faculty members provided me with guidance, mentorship, and opportunities for intellectual growth. The small class sizes have facilitated meaningful interactions and discussions, enabling me to develop critical thinking skills and deepen my understanding of the subjects I'm studying. As a student-athlete, Barton College has provided me with an exceptional athletic program that has not only honed my skills but also instilled important values such as teamwork, discipline, and perseverance. The college's commitment to athletic excellence is evident through state-of-the-art facilities, experienced coaches, and a supportive community. Representing Barton College in my chosen sport has been an honor, and the camaraderie among teammates and the sense of pride in our athletic achievements have made my experience truly memorable.
Overall, Barton College has been a blast. The small campus brings forth an inclusive and diverse culture that is beneficial and enjoyable to all. Most of the buildings are kept up nicely, although some of the residence halls are getting old. I believe new residence halls would be the first think I'd like to see changed. It would give current students a nicer place to live, and if the halls were made bigger, it would invite more people to attend Barton College.
It is an amazing school that makes you feel included at all times! I am an international student from Spain and I couldn't be happier to have chose Barton as my college. It is home now. The campus is small but it is gorgeous. If you are planning in being a student-athlete I sincerely recommend Barton because it is a big family that will care about you. Every single teacher will know your name, that is for sure.
Barton college has become my home. I transferred to Barton for nursing school. The campus and professors are excellent. My professors are supportive and go the extra mile to benefit my learning. I have never felt so supported and encouraged in my life. Barton College has changed my life for the better and I am so grateful to be a Barton Nursing student. Everyone at Barton cares, which makes Barton stand out. It may be a small college but it is the most welcoming campus I have ever stepped foot on. My professors push me to test my limits and support me along the way. I would recommend Barton College to a student looking for a sense of community, encouragement, and to gain the experiences of a lifetime.
I loved how it was like a tight-knit family. Everyone was always so lovely and helpful. It is easy to get involved on campus and find lifelong friends.
The environment at Barton College is awesome with great people all around! I am an athlete at the college and help is always there when needed not only for student-athletes but also normal students. The culture of the school is what really draws people in. Having a tight knit community of Wilson surrounding Barton not only athletically but also academically is a major reason students are successful throughout their time at Barton College. With covid-19 destroying the lives of Americans across the country Barton did it's best at keeping students engaged and positive during such a depressing time. Now although Barton does lack super nice dorms or high quality food at times this does not take away from the experiences gained at school. There is truly no place like Barton college and it is growing day by day with new sports teams such as football and lacrosse being successful. The school is expanding for the better and it is nice to see the progress in front of your own eyes.
My experience at Barton College has been good when looking at the experience as a whole. I will say when going to a smaller college the experience that you get out is based on what you put in. Barton college is a smaller college that is now receiving larger freshman class and transfer students. Barton needs to have some dorm modifications and create a new dorm to be more accommodating . The school cafe has many dining options that meets that are healthy or if you are looking for sweet options. Barton college best characteristics has to be the way people come together as a community. The little things in life such as center campus activities or random pop up events makes the college experience sweeter.
My experience at Barton College has been absolutely amazing. I love the campus, the staff, and my classmates. The staff is always so nice and understanding. I love that the campus is so welcoming. My favorite part about the campus is its beautiful landscape where squirrels are just running everywhere having an amazing time. My fellow classmates are also wonderful because they are kind, respectful, and understanding. Also, I would like to mention that I love that Barton College has small classes of like twenty students or less. It allows students like myself to have one on one time with the professor when we are struggling with a complex topic. Another thing I would like to mention about Barton College is the fact that I feel welcomed there and I feel like I fit in there unlike other places.
Best 4 years of my life, hands down. Professors that care, great President and leadership, fun social life, great athletics, excellent education. I love this college and am so grateful I chose Barton College to continue my education.
My experience at Barton has been life changing. I transferred to Barton in 2019 from my previous school. As soon as I stepped foot onto campus, I felt at home already. I was greeted by the most energetic people I have ever met. Barton has not only helped me become a better student, but a better person in general. I didn't have many friends coming into Barton, but now I have made life-long friendships that I am very grateful for. A suggestion I would make would be to host more interesting campus events. It would help bring the student body even closer. Other than that, Barton will forever have a special place within my heart. Once a Bulldog, always a Bulldog.
It's not anything so far I would like to see changed at Barton except for the price. Its really not enough scholarships that would help me pay for my tuition since I not going to be able to work, but I still have over 2000 balance that has to be paid by December of 2021 and I don't have a clue to how I'll pay for it.
