An employee of the Chesapeake Walmart where six people were killed in Tuesday night's shooting told ABC's "Good Morning America" the shooter was a manager she was told "to look out for."

The employee, Briana Tyler, described the horrific scene, telling ABC she and her coworkers were gathered in the break room before the beginning of their shifts to figure out where in the store each of them would be working.

“As soon as my team lead said, ‘Alright guys, you know, we have a light night tonight,’ I looked up and my manager just opened the door and he just opened fire,” Tyler said, adding the shooter said nothing. “He wasn’t aiming at anybody specifically. He just started shooting throughout the entire break room.”

“He looked directly at me but luckily he missed my head by an inch or two,” Tyler said.

According to Tyler, who said she started working at the store two months ago, the shooter was a manager she was told “to look out for because there was always something going on with him just having an issue with someone.”

“But I never expected it to get to this level,” Tyler said. “But he was the manager that everybody had something to say about.”

“We were all just literally just getting to our shift. The night hadn’t even started yet,” Tyler said.

A source familiar told CNN the gunman was an overnight "team lead" who had worked at Walmart since 2010.

President Biden released a statement mourning another horrific mass shooting in America that left at least six people dead overnight at a Virginia Walmart.

"Jill and I grieve for those families, for the Chesapeake community, and for the Commonwealth of Virginia, which just suffered a terrible shooting at the University of Virginia this month. We also mourn for all those across America who have lost loved ones to these tragic shootings that we must come together as a nation to stand against," Biden said in the written statement.

He added, "Tomorrow is Thanksgiving, one of our most cherished holidays that brings us together as Americans and as families, when we hug our loved ones and count our blessings. But because of yet another horrific and senseless act of violence, there are now even more tables across the country that will have empty seats this Thanksgiving."

In the statement the president also promised that the federal government is ready to provide any necessary assistance and called for "greater action" on gun reform is needed.

After the Colorado Springs shooting last week, Biden again called for congressional action, specifically for an assault weapons ban, but the reality of a divided Congress makes this unlikely.

Rumors about an active shooter at another store in Chesapeake are untrue, city says

In the wake of Tuesday night's shooting, the city of Chesapeake, Virginia, is batting down rumors of another incident, saying reports of an active shooter at a Target are not true.

"Rumors of an active shooter at Target in Chesapeake are UNTRUE," a post on the city's official Twitter page reads. "Please help us control rumors by only sharing information from this account."

Chesapeake is currently a community “on pins and needles,” State Sen. L. Louise Lucas, who represents Chesapeake, told CNN Wednesday morning.

“We’re on edge, because we don’t know where the next mass shooting is going to occur,” she said. “And for people who don’t think it’s going to happen in their community, in their school, in their Walmart, in their church, all they gotta do is wait, because they’re going to be in line until we do something to prevent the destruction of lives through gun violence.”

What we know: At least six people were killed Tuesday night inside a Walmart in Chesapeake, police said.

The gunman, who was an employee at the store, is also dead, Chesapeake Police Chief Mark Solesky said Wednesday. Police believe the gunman died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, Solesky said. The gunman's identity has not been released because his next of kin has not been notified.

Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin reacted to Tuesday night's mass shooting in Chesapeake, calling it a "shocking stark reality."

"We overnight, again, had a, just a horrendous senseless act of violence in Chesapeake, and the investigation is ongoing," Youngkin said. "Our hearts are just completely broken this morning yet again in the commonwealth of Virginia."

"We have had two horrific acts of violence in the commonwealth of Virginia in two weeks and that absolutely brings with it a sense of anger, a sense of fear, a sense of deep deep grief," he said.

On Nov.13, at least three people were killed, and two others were injured during a mass shooing on the University of Virginia's Charlottesville campus. The suspect in that shooting, Christopher Darnell Jones Jr., faces three charges of second-degree murder and three counts of using a handgun in the commission of a felony, CNN previously reported.

Youngkin also said the community must focus on helping the grieving families.

"Today our job is to support families, who are facing unthinkable today. Families who have lost a loved one or have a loved one who is injured," he said, adding that "we must stay focused on families, we must stay focused on the brave men and women who are doing the investigation."
