I would like to see the culture change. Massillon has always been known as the football school and I would love for another sport to be able to become as recognized as football has in the city of Massillon. Growing up I always played volleyball and my coach had told us he would like to make volleyball more recognized and get more attention like football and I agree. My experience was wonderful. I had a great senior year! Football won the division two state champion ship, I was up for Miss Massillonian which is the top 12 girls and top 12 boys of the school. The only worst experience was coming into high school during covid. I remember not getting a freshman homecoming, not getting my freshman orientation and even trying to find my way in a new school during a troubling period time of uncertainty.
I transferred to Massillon as a freshman. Right away I was accepted and felt as though I had attended the district since elementary school. There were so many opportunities academically. I hope to go back to the Massillon schools to teach after graduating from college.
Throughout my high-school experience at Washington High School, I have come to understand the sense of community that the city of Massillon holds. Although we all come from different backgrounds, have different interests, and may not always get along, this school has proved to me that it is like a family. It is the kind of relationship, for example, where I can talk badly about my brother but no one else can. We are one team, one school, one family.
