I have many Christmas Cds...ranging from Perry Como to Destiny's Child to the Carpenters to Babyface and everything in between...and this one ranks as one of the BEST. There is nothing CHEESY about this album...it's totally sincere. And best of all, it's completely eclectic. If Faith keeps on releasing music like this, she'll be a relevant recording artist for the rest of her life. Case in point: "Happy Holiday" and especially "Christmas Wish" are PURE CLASSIC FAITH, like the stuff you'd hear on her first album. She gives us James Brown-ish soul (not unlike "Mesmerized" from "The First Lady") on "Soulful Christmas" and "Merry Christmas Baby," she gives us a gospel rendition of "OCome All Ye Faithfu" and is coquettish on "Santa Baby." But she TRULY SHINES on "Mistletoe and Holly," which is a timeless, timeless production...it could have been recorded in the 1940s...it's just beautiful. As is her treatment of "White Christmas," "The Christmas Song" and her flawless rendition of a sometimes cheesy song, "This Christmas." However...THE TRULY SHINING MOMENT on this CD is "THE DAY THAT LOVE BEGAN." This album is worth it for that song alone. So much emotion, joy and love shine through on that song...plus the story of a shephard boy is touching as well. Thank you FAITH for putting FAITH into modern Christmas music, and for really shining on your first of hopefully many more Christmas albums...And how great would it be to hear her sing "O Holy Night" and some of the other standards!
Wow, ya'll I didn't believe it's coming but now that it's finally here.....I still can't believe it. This cd is packaged together so well with such a great mix of funk, soul, gospel, contempory, and vocals ala 1995 (super plus). Faith is back on it with the lush background vocals so many of us fell in love with her for and she's sanging and doing them church vocals ya'll. Here's the breakdown!

The Day That Love Began 4/5 Classical type piece. May catch you off guard at first, cause it's not soul/r&b, but it's Faith stepping out of the box on some real propper sanging. Classic!
Soulful Christmas 5/5 Funky, think Mesmirized*2 for Xmas and Faith spits a hot 16 bars!!!
Santa Baby 3.5/5 Cutesy, works for the kids, and the folk from the 40's and 50's, it's like that time period.

Mistle Toe and Holly 3.5/5 Another one for the kiddies and grammps. I aint mad though, it still rocks!

Very nice contemporary Christmas music, and interestingly enough many have a tastefully old time vibe going on... Very nice, Faith. No regrets purchasing this project.
I HAVE GOT SCREAM AT EVERYONE FOR THIS ALBUM. THIS GREAT WOMAN JUST KEEPS GETTING MORE& MO AMAZING! DO YOU HEAR THESE SICK BACKGROUNDS ON THIS CD? YO SHE IS REALLY GETTIN HER KAREN CLARK/ELLA FITZGERALD ON! DON'T EVEN LET ME GET STARTED ON THE LEADS ON THESE CRAZY TRAX. YO IF I EVA SEE FAYE I'M JUST GONNA STEAL HER IN MOUTH! SIMPLE AS THAT. SHE SHOULDN'T BE SINGING LIKE THIS. THIS ALBUM REALLY SHOWCASES HER KNOWLEDGE FOR MUSIC. THIS CRAZY CHICKS GOT LIKE 50'S 60'&70'S SOUNDS ON THIS JOINT. IF YOU DON'T HAVE THIS GET IT! LIP-SYNCHING MARIAH HAS NOTHING ON THIS, NO SHADE "MIMI", JUST KEEPIN IT REAL! FAITH IS REAL NICE WITH HERS THIS GO ROUND.

I just bought this cd tonight and Im sorry ITS TRASH!! I was hoping to hear some of the songs like This Christmas....done in a more traditional manner with some soul...instead I got some EXTRA ish! She has songs on here that dont even sound like Christmas music...she has chopped up the original of This christmas to make it sound like some slooow molasses song...she DRAGS out notes/songs FOREVER! Its ridiculous...I tell you Faith....wont get my money again for a long long time!
