Bill Hudson spent his early years in his hometown of Portland. He’s the son of William Louis Hudson and Eleanor (nee Salerno, but his father left the family when he was six years old, so he was raised by his mother alongside his two younger brothers, Brett and Mark Hudson. His mother was Italian-American, since her father hails from Sicily, Italy. Bill holds American nationality, belongs to White Caucasian ethnic group, and is a Roman Catholic. Career Beginnings
Bill Hudson and his two younger brothers developed their love for performing and singing at a very young age, under the influence of their mother who was also a singer. They started making music very early, and had their own band called the My Sirs. While they were recording songs at a local studio, the boys were discovered by a local producer who offered a recording contract; they then became The New Yorkers. After releasing several songs, such as “Seeds Of Spring”, “I Guess The Lord Must Be In New York City”, and “When I’m Gone”, they changed their name to Everyday Hudson, which was later shortened to Hudson. Their debut self-titled studio album was issued through Playboy Records in 1972.
Rise to Fame as The Hudson Brothers
In 1973, they signed a contract with Elton John’s label The Rocket Record Company, and started performing under the name The Hudson Brothers. They released their second studio album the next year, entitled “Hollywood Situation”, with the single “So You Are A Star”, which peaked at No. 21 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Later that year, they issued their third studio album “Totally Out Of Control”, which reached No. 179 on the Billboard 200. They then launched their own variety show “The Hudson Brothers Show”, which was broadcast on CBS in 1974, and was such a huge success that CBS devised another show, entitled “The Hudson Brothers Razzle Dazzle Show”, which lasted from 1974 to 1975.

Further Work and Dissolution
Their fourth studio album entitled “Ba-Fa” was released in 1975, and peaked at No. 176 on the Billboard 200 chart. The following year they recorded the single “Help Wanted”, which reached No. 70 on the Billboard Hot 100. They then signed a contract with Arista Records, and made public their next studio album “The Truth About Us”but without any major success, since it failed to chart. Afterwards, the group reverted to the name Hudson, and signed a new record deal with Elektra Records, through which they released their final studio album “Damn Those Kids”, after which they disbanded.
Career as an Actor
Apart from being a musician, Bill Hudson tried himself as an actor. He made his debut feature film appearance in the role of Eddie in Don Weis’ comedy film “Zero To Sixty” in 1978. Later that year, he starred as Eddie Reardon in the made-for-TV drama film “The Millionaire”, in which he shared the screen with Martin Balsam and Edward Albert. In 1982, he co-wrote, and played Fredric Lansing / Casper in, the comedy film “Hysterical”, alongside his brothers Brett and Mark. Five years later, he was chosen to portray Mr Dawkins in the comedy-adventure film “Big Shots”, which was directed by Robert Mandel.
In 1989, he was cast as Tom Burke in the family comedy TV series “Just Like Family”, next to Cindy Williams, Gabriel Damon and Grace Johnston. His latest project was the ABC medical sitcom “Doogie Howser, M.D.”, in which he landed the role of Michael Plenn from 1989 to 1992.
