Bernard J. Gill, 89, of Sun City West AZ, (formerly of Chicago IL), passed from this life on February 15, 2024.
Loving husband of Nancy for 20 years. Bernie then met Ruth thru their church and spent the remainder of their lives together.
Father of four, Stepfather of six, Grandfather of 22, Great Grandfather of 11, Uncle to many beloved nieces and nephews as well.
Not long after they married, Bernie and Ruth relocated from the frigid Chicago winters to AZ, where they lived for many happy, fun filled years in Sun City West. Bernie always referred to AZ as 'Paradise'.
Bernie was a very generous man, contributing to many charitable organizations such as National breast cancer, St Jude's Children's Hospital, St Mary food bank, the Sisters of St Francis, and many others. He was also generous in constantly giving to those around him… from $2 Bills to children he would see in restaurants, to Flag label pins, mini flashlights and so many other thoughtful trinkets. It brought him Joy to give to others! He was also an avid golfer and was a longtime member at Rolling Green in Illinois and then Briarwood Country Club in Arizona. Lastly, he loved to sing, entertain and go out to dinner with family and friends. He and Ruth participated in many performances and parties out in Sun City West, and he enjoyed every single one of them.
