Pet Shop Boys – Electric

Great record by PSB. A record for lovers of Dance, Pop, Sinth-pop, House, Dream-House music, for DJs, for multiple generations, and then what more could you want? PSB are back in great shape with this record. And it was nice to see them in concert in Rome at the Auditorium Parco della Musica (Cavea), in the summer of 2015, with the play of lights, their many different costumes, dancers on stage, beautiful videos behind Tennant and Lowe, in short, a fantastic show. I remember everyone dancing. A really good concert/show.

I PSB sono tornati in gran forma con questo disco. Ed è stato bello vederli in concerto a Roma all'Auditorium Parco della Musica (Cavea), l'estate del 2015, con i giochi di luci, tanti costumi diversi, danzatori sul palco, bei filmati alle spalle di Tennant e Lowe, insomma uno spettacolo fantastico. Ricordo che ballavano tutti. Davvero un bel concerto/spettacolo.

Brilliant album. Perhaps PSB's best. Stuart Price knocks it out of the park here, with a huge production that's both modern and nostalgic.

The only drawback is the final mix on this pressing sounds a bit thin to my ears, something I also noticed on the streaming version. This pressing in particular lacks low end and I had to crank the LF to wake up my subs.

I have this and agree with Mr Milano: it is stunningly beautiful, perhaps more beautiful than the Vinyl Factory edition of Yes. The VF of Yes is great, with its elaborate jigsaw concept and the instrumentals + some some spot on tracks such as Love Etc . . . But Electric is . . . well, electric. Neon, bright, fluoro and juicyfruit colourful as POP itself. It is a perfect Pet Shop Boys work of art. And a testament to what music on vinyl can be, wonderful.

HOWEVER - I also agree with Thestoneblues in the below responses. It's kind of neat that it's collectable and the price will go up (I have to admit), but that is not why I bought it, I won’t be selling it. I bought it because I love the Pet Shop Boys, the music, this album and because it is highly admirable what the Vinyl Factory does - to craft vinyl to high specs, setting high standards, being exemplary, and with some of their projects, to be a work of art. Lovely. That is part of what vinyl production is about, crafting music which gives pleasure to collectors.

So, in agreement with Thestoneblues – it’s great to play these singles sometimes. I take care handling the vinyl and it’s a pleasure seeing them spin. Vinyl isn’t as fragile as some would think. Go on Mr Milano, try it sometime: PLAY THE WHITE ONE! That’s me being Vocal.

Beautiful pressing. Sounds way better than the mp3 version (only other version I have). The album itself is just magnificent. Stuart Price's production here brings back a sound we haven't heard from Pet Shop Boys in a long while. Remember in the early 90's they put out a very limited and very experimental EP called Relentless? Yeah, this is what Electric reminds me of (and how I would LOVE to have Relentless on vinyl!). And it's more wonderful for it! The closing track "Vocal" is one of the best dance tracks PSB have ever recorded!

Excellent sound quality on this Parlophone UK 2 LP set. Remember, Parlophone U.S. releases are usually pressed by Rhino Records (and that is hit and miss with quality ) Spend a little extra and get the U.K. editions of Parlophone, it's worth it.

Another fake item from the Russian folks that flood Pet Shop Boys releases with their very high quality bootlegs. Do not be fooled, this is an ilegal release.

It's a pretty quiet press. Sounds great, tho. Love this album.

How absolutely stunning is this work of art by Farrow Design, the Pet Shop Boys, and Vinyl Factory.
Supberly crafted.
Definitely a museum quality piece of musical art.
To be displayed with pride. And just to be seen, not touched. Vinyls are not meant to be played.
For that, a regular vinyl version of the record can be used.

Fantastic album, despite it sounding like Stuart Price feat. PSB (not a bad thing). In fact, it might be Price's euphoric sound that makes this such a sonically immaculate set of tracks. The songwriting seems to be not applicable here, but the objective of the album is crystal clear and, as a fully-fledged dance record, it satisfies. To me, this is Price's sequel to Madonna's 'Confessions on a Dancefloor'.

A great album, in fact one of their best. It's a dance album much in the vein of Introspective, or even their overlooked Relentless EP that accompanied Very. It's a much needed return to their dance roots after the somber affair that was Elysium. It's not their best effort in terms of songwriting, but as far as modern day dance music goes there's been little to match it in 2013 or since.
