Army and Navy Academy | College Preparatory Boarding School for Boys

MAKING VIRTUOUS YOUNG MEN

For over a century, Army and Navy Academy has been dedicated solely to the education and development of young men. While boys can and do excel academically in many types of educational institutions, a school built for the needs of this generation’s boys doesn’t just promote success in the classroom: it offers a pathway for boys to become young men of character. What sets the Academy apart from other boys’ schools is our century-old military tradition, which manifests in an engaging, supportive, standards-based, and structured environment with a governing honor code. Within our unique culture, boys are taught and mentored to explore their values and develop virtues that help them achieve human excellence.

THE ARMY AND NAVY ACADEMY DIFFERENCE

Army and Navy Academy offers exceptional teachers, rigorous athletics, and a nationally recognized leadership program. At a time when many boys are struggling in the classroom and to find their place in society, the Academy employs evidence-based single-gender education techniques proven to help boys learn better and thrive in life. Graduates of the Academy follow life paths carved from self-determination and built through intellectual curiosity, self-understanding, and confidence developed here.

SINGLE-GENDER MODEL. Boys in middle school and high school have educational needs that are not being met in most public and private school settings. The current generation of boys is falling behind in school, resulting in a crisis in higher education. We use relational teaching, a highly structured academic day, differentiated instruction, and active learning to meet the unique educational needs of young men, helping them to thrive and develop both the confidence and the capability to excel in college and far beyond.

CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT. We also aim to shape our students into ethical, responsible, well-rounded members of society. This helps young men to develop resilience and grit in the face of life’s many challenges. Character development programs are proven to improve academic outcomes, but more importantly, they prepare our graduates to live meaningful, fulfilling lives.

The Talisman is a Cadet-produced annual compilation of artwork, poetry, and photography. Middle school Cadet, Kenneth Zhang, read aloud his poem titled "Mom" to the Corps of Cadets, faculty, and staff during the Year in Review Assembly on Monday. Kenneth is also an accomplished violin player having just performed at Carnegie Hall last month.

If you are looking for a fun new way to promote your business, celebrate your family and support the Academy, consider an Athletics Sponsorship for the 2024-2025 sports season. Banners will be hung inside the fence on Mafucci Field for visitors to see, outside the fence for rail passengers and parking lot guests to see, and will be featured inside the Duffield Gym on our electronic scoring table. This equates to a minimum of 48 games of exposure where your business or family will be promoted!
